Cisco Breaking Out? / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Purely from a technical perspective, we can make the case that with the series of higher-highs and higher lows since the August 31 low at 19.82, Cisco (CSCO) is in the process of completing a pullback from Friday's recovery high at 22.25 (into today's low at 21.86). If accurate that means that the rally off of this morning's low is the start of a new upleg that should hurdle 22.25 on the way to 22.50 next.

Impressive Action in Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) has climbed to a new recovery and new 2 3/4-year high at 27.26 (so far) today, which has triggered new projections into the 28.00-29.00 target zone in the upcoming weeks and months.

Major Infrastructure Stock Too Cheap to Ignore / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Jared_Levy

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleLast week the president announced his $50 billion plan to repair, rebuild and improve our nation's crumbling infrastructure systems, while adding jobs in the process. Of course, any new spending plan bill will most likely be met with some opposition and scrutiny. Let me first say that I am not a supporter of deficit spending, nor do I agree entirely with our current fiscal and monetary policies, but that's another article all together. What I can tell you is that a large portion of this country's infrastructure is in extremely poor condition and MUST be repaired by any means necessary.

Corrective Period Ahead of Next Upleg for Walter Energy / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Crazy volatility aside, the overall pattern in Walter Energy (NYSE: WLT) argues that all of the action off of the Sept 3 high at 78.74 represents a maturing corrective period which when complete should resolve itself into a new upleg that propels the stock above 79.00-80.00 towards 90.00. Next upleg should coincide with an upside breakout in the China equity indices, which would benefit this industry.

What Do You Need To See To Take A Trade / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: David_Grandey

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleSummer is over and it’s time to get serious — serious in the sense of reviewing YOUR GOALS. A question we find ourselves asking right here is:

What is it going to take for me to earn another 10% return on the overall portfolio from here by year end?

Constructive Chart Pattern for Qualcomm / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Let's notice that during the August corrective period, Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) has carved out a contractionary, coil-type consolidation pattern in the aftermath and atop its prior explosive upmove from the July low at 31.51 to the Aug high at 40. At its deepest corrective price of 37.45 at the 8/16 low, QCOM had retraced only 30% of the entire prior upleg.

Expected Upside for Trina Solar TSL / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

All of the action in Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL) off of the July high at 22.45 through today's trading has the right look of a mature (read: nearly complete) bullish coil pattern, which if accurate means that the next significant directional move should be to the upside in a thrust out of the coil towards a target zone of 25.00/50.

AK Steel Corp Strong Relative Performance / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Barring a global exodus from equities on a rotating timezone basis, I want to stay with AK Steel Corp (NYSE: AKS) for a number of reasons. Purely on a technical basis, so far today, the weakness has NOT violated the prior pullback low. Secondly, while the emini S&P 500 has come within two-tenths of 1% of its prior August 16 low, AKS remains $0.90, or 6.5%, above its 8/16 low.

Near-term Low in Research in Motion, RIMM / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Today's point-and-figure low print at 49.40 in Research in Motion (RIMM) satisfies a downside swing objective created by the prior decline from 58.60 to 51.70 and has the right look of a completed correction - or a corrective leg that is carving out a near-term low in the vicinity of 49.40.

Breakout in China Mobile CHL / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

So far, the action in China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) has followed the bullish script that we have discussed since Sunday's Chart Video Update. We noted in that video that IF the Shanghai Composite did indeed establish a major bullish signal exhibited by a monthly (July) upside reversal, then a significant recovery rally in the China equity indices should have a supportive impact on some components of the iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index (NYSE: FXI), which exhibits a stronger pattern than the Shanghai.

Is the Star in Starbucks Fading? / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: INO

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleI recently took the time to analyze one of the most popular and iconic brands on the American scene. I am of course talking about Starbucks.

After getting beaten down in 2008, Starbucks has made a remarkable recovery. However, that recovery looks to be in jeopardy based on our "Trade Triangle" technology and the findings of a 14th century dead mathematician.

AAPL Stock, Why We Don’t Chase Buses / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: David_Grandey

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleSo AAPL reported earnings after the close Tuesday and what did it do Wednesday?

See that? Traded basically right up to the little red 265 line and backed away. Anyone who had to have it on those great numbers AFTER it popped is for the most part down for the day. What’s that we say? Don’t get emotional and make emotional decisions? And ohhh lets not forget about chasing buses either.

Bullish On Apple AAPL / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

My intraday pattern work in Apple (AAPL) argues that the correction of this morning's high at 266.47 is nearing completion ahead of a resumption of strength that should make its way back towards the 260 and then the 266 intraday target zones.

The Truth Hurts Stock Market Investors But Helps Option Traders / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Adam_Lass

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleTurns out, the Axis of Error was "wrong" again about retail sales. Here's how to double your money, as the REAL story spills out.

For weeks now, I have been warning that the retail sector was nowhere near as healthy as the cheerleading squad was making it out to be, what with their endlessly optimistic guesstimates, reiterations of stale numbers, and after-the-fact stealth write-downs.

Key Charts Ahead of Corporate Earnings / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleCatalysts for the market this week are earnings, which begin to be released Monday evening, and reaction to the weekend's news about the China trade surplus. Ryland Oil Corp, Oilpatch Buyouts Show Raw Land Can Be Worth $Millions / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Keith_Schaefer

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleToday’s buyout of Ryland Oil (RYL-TSX) by Crescent Point Energy (CPG-TSX) is a good example of how large “resource plays” can get valued by investors. CPG paid $121.8 million, or roughly $0.45/share for Ryland.

But back in 2006, when the mania of the emerging Bakken oil play in North Dakota and southern Saskatchewan was at a peak, Ryland soared from 10 cents to $4 in months.
