A Math-Free Guide to Higher and Safer Investing Returns / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Casey_Research

By Andrey Dashkov

I can make you instantly richer, and safely, by explaining a finance concept with a story about a dog.

There’s a hole in your pocket you probably don’t know about. You may feel instinctively that something is wrong, but unless you look in the right place, you won’t find the problem. The money you’re losing doesn’t appear in the minus column on your account statements, but you’re losing it nevertheless.

This "Eureka Moment" Tech Stock Taking a Page from Apple's Playbook / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

About two weeks ago, my local alarm company came out to upgrade my backup cellular transmitter. I got a package deal that also included installation of the advanced touch-screen control panel.

As a gadget and security geek, that touch-screen blew me away. It includes a mobile app for remote monitoring, and it seamlessly integrates with the system's digital surveillance video.

I ended up ordering three more motion-sensitive, full-color surveillance cameras. Plus, I ordered a second control panel.

Jim Rogers on Opportunities in Russia and Other Hated Markets / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Casey_Research

Nick Giambruno: Welcome, Jim. As you know, Doug Casey and I travel the world surveying crisis markets, and we always like to get your take on things. Today I want to talk to you about Russia, which is a very hated market right now. What are your thoughts on Russia in general and on Russian stocks in particular?

Jim Rogers: Well, I’m optimistic about the future of Russia. I was optimistic before this war started in Ukraine, which was instigated by the US, of course. But in any case, I bought more Russia during the Crimea incident, and I’m looking to buy still more.

This One Stock Investing Tool Made the Difference between Bankruptcy and $13 Million / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: There’s an old joke that’s made its way around financial circles over the years. It goes something like this:

An investment banker walks into a room where his cohorts are in a meeting. “I’ve got good news and bad news,” he announces. “The bad news is, we’ve just lost $100 million. The good news is, it wasn’t ours.” An associate raises his hand. “What was the bad news again?”

It’s humor, but there’s more than a grain of truth to the story. Whether we’re talking about brokers, bankers, or even your most trusted financial advisor, you cannot rely on anyone else to care about your money and keep it safe.

The "Smart Money's" Next Big Profitable Investing Contrarian Move / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

William Patalon writes: In our 1998 book, Contrarian Investing: How to Buy and Sell When Others Won't and Make Money Doing It, coauthor Anthony Gallea and I made an astounding discovery: When looking at beaten-down stocks, the single-best "Buy" signal is so-called "insider buying."

You know what I'm talking about – the "legal" insider buying when C-level officers or board members snap up shares of the company they're overseeing.

Casey Club - Unconventional Investing for Unconventional Times / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Marin_Katusa

What is Casey’s Club?

Let me first share the evolution of Casey Research and why I think if you’re a serious speculator, you need to be part of Casey’s Club.

A little over a decade ago, I was a Casey subscriber. At the time, there was only the International Speculator, and the firm was made up of only Doug Casey and David Galland.

But as I got to know the power players in the industry, I learned that the savvy speculators made their millions investing via private placements (PPs) and clip and collect warrants.

Cheap Oil and a Strong Dollar Mean Big Gains for This Stock / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Peter Krauth writes: Massive new oil supply has led Saudi Arabia to compete for market share by dramatically cutting prices. The impact of this cheap oil in North America is mixed. But certain regions are clear beneficiaries, such as those surrounding auto-reliant Detroit.

Just across the roughly 1.5 mile expanse of the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit is Windsor, Canada. Its fortunes are tightly interwoven with those of the Motor City. One Canadian firm with operations in Windsor is sure to benefit from the glut of cheap oil.

That might sound like a contradiction – but I guarantee it's not.

It's actually a key to why most professional traders outperform individual investors year after year.

Market Wizards and the Mean Reversion Monkeys / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: John_Mauldin

By Jared Dillian

The buzz has been building on this trade for weeks. Clients, friends, people on Twitter, everyone I know has been waiting for a chance to pick the bottom in oil.

I’ve heard all this chatter on which triple-leveraged oil ETFs to use (I make a point of not knowing such things). They’ve been waiting for this opportunity since oil was at 80 bucks.

Portfolio Strategies 2015 for Investing in an Age of Divergence / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: John_Mauldin

With all the negative news out of Europe, how do you find a positive story? Is there a way to structure a portfolio that gives you permission to be more aggressive when there are danger signs all around? Everyone is worried about being blindsided by a significant downdraft in the markets when maybe we should be thinking about making sure we don’t miss a bull market somewhere. These and several dozen other topics were on the table when the Mauldin Economics writing team gathered here in Dallas for 3½ days of intensive talk, interviews, and planning. Today we’ll go over a few of the highlights of this last week, and I’ll share a few reasons to be optimistic about 2015.

Where to invest in 2015? / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Dhaval_Shah

Globally, Deflation ( declining demand and prices)has emerged as imminent threat. Developed economies (Govt and Central banks) have been attempting every possible option like –ve interest rates & debt to GDP raising in excess of 100%, to stimulate demand. But, it seems efforts are not paying targeted results and economies are sleeping into deflation.

13 Investment Themes for 2015 / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: John_Mauldin

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” says my friend Gary Shilling as he kicks off today’s Outside the Box. He’s referring to his investment themes for 2015. He first gives us 11 reasons to continue favoring long Treasury bonds. That’s an obvious play for him if you know his view, but it’s nevertheless a compelling one this year and one that you should think through, given the specter of deflation about in the world, the firing up of QE in Japan and Europe (which gives folks money to buy … Treasurys), and the safe-haven status of the US dollar.

Gary’s reason #9 for buying Treasurys is that “The odds of a near-term Fed rate hike are receding. He sees any Fed rate increase being pushed out “as the deflationary effects of the oil price plunge sink in and investors – and the Fed – realize that foreign central bank stimuli amount to Fed tightening [in relative terms].”

The Most Important Thing You Should Do to Make Money in 2015 / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Investment_U

Marc Lichtenfeld writes: Last Thursday, the front page headline of the USA Today Money section read “Stock Plunge Digs Deeper.” Above it was a graphic showing that since December 31, 15 days earlier, the Dow Jones Industrials had fallen 2.2%.

Plunge?

The article went on to recount the prior day’s trading when the Dow fell 187 points, or 1.1%. A poor showing for sure, but hardly anything to get excited about.

When a Trend Shifts Like This, Investors Can Get Rich / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: Did you see the investing opportunity in the Golden Globe Awards last Sunday?

Not many investors did. It was easy to miss.

It wasn’t the dazzling fashion on the red carpet or the celebrities congratulating each other. What really struck me was a huge signal for money-making in our Technology trend.

Simple Stock Market Investing Beating Strategy 2015 / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: DailyWealth

Dr. David Eifrig writes: The education of new investors often follows similar paths...

New investors get interested in the stock market and plan to get rich quick. They think it's just a matter of time before they find some small, unheard-of company that will grow 100 times over, making them rich.

Before long, the investors realize that investing in small-growth stocks is harder than it looks. Yes, occasionally a tiny stock blossoms into a big winner. But it's usually not enough to offset all the other duds. They learn that smart investors buy established quality companies and hold them for extended periods.

How We’re Going to Get Rich in 2015 / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

The one prediction I emphasized over and over was that volatility would be extreme.

This Investing Move Could Help You Beat the Market by Over 20% in 2015 / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: Welcome to 2015 – I’m thrilled you’re here!

I think this year is gonna be absolutely filled with opportunity for investors, perhaps more than ever before. But few of us are set up to take full advantage of it. That’s because most people’s portfolios are totally out of whack. (I’ll show you what I mean in a moment – and why it cramps your returns.)

This American Design Classic Is a Great Stock to Buy in 2015 / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Michael E. Lewitt writes: Believe it or not, there are still a few U.S. companies that do not rely on debt, manipulative accounting, and massive stock buybacks to generate strong earnings and a high stock price in today's overpriced stock market.

Some companies, like the one I'm about to show you, still make money the old-fashioned way: selling a well-made product, managing their balance sheet, and finding and keeping management talent for the long haul.

Is Now the Time to Buy Small Cap Stocks? / Stock-Markets / Investing 2015

By: Investment_U

Matthew Carr writes: There are a number of misconceptions that are perpetually parroted as truth.

For example...

Albert Einstein did not fail mathematics... In fact, he mastered higher forms of calculus (which most of us don’t see until college) before he was 15.

You can’t see the Great Wall of China from space... It is barely visible from low Earth orbit. Even then, you need binoculars.
