Unfortunately, we live in an age of profound ignorance and stupidity. Students of color attending UCal-Berkeley decided they needed a ‘safe place’ on campus so they have prevented students not of their same color from passing into their selected zone. They shouted, ‘Go around!’. Isn’t that the same message Rosa Parks heard on buses until she decided to raise her own rebel flag and take a seat. It seems that those who claim to abhor racism are the racists. Bigots come in every color.

Dear Parader,
I began writing this week’s musings on a small notepad while sitting in the Homeowners Association Meeting here in La Estancia de Cafayate.
For the record, I have a near phobic dislike of sitting in meetings that ranks right up there with filling in government forms.
To my way of thinking, business that could be handled efficiently by a couple of well-intentioned and reasonably intelligent individuals in 15 minutes takes a larger group several hours to reach either the same conclusion or something less efficacious.

Everyone was so certain. The pollsters and poll watchers almost uniformly predicted a Trump defeat – among them the celebrated Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight who gave Trump only a thirty-eight percent chance of winning heading into Election Day.
Of the eleven national polls to be released in the final week of the race, only two – a Los Angeles Times/USC survey and one from IBD/TIPP – showed Trump with the lead (TheHill, Nov. 9). These polls proved the most accurate for two consecutive presidential cycles.

One congressional district in a state that nobody pays attention to could find itself at the center of American politics. That district’s single electoral vote could spell the difference between a razor-thin win and a tie. Seriously.
Maine is one of just two states that apportion electoral votes by congressional district and not by the total state count. The state has four total votes. Two go to the statewide winner, and one each goes to the winners in the two congressional districts.

I heard the term “spirit cooking” for the first time a few days ago. At first I assumed it was some form of culinary style that was done in a spiritual way.
Boy was I wrong.
Reports on the internet are actually referring to a meal involving “blood, sperm and breastmilk.” The term was mentioned in an invitation to John Podesta, chairman of the Clinton campaign. Podesta didn’t go to the dinner involved, apparently, but the term and its ingredients made considerable news on the internet.
