By: InvestmentContrarian

John Paul writes: We’re two weeks away from surviving the Mayan Doomsday and three weeks away from stepping over the fiscal cliff. But the unabated student loan debt is just getting warmed up. Instead of dealing with the problem, Washington’s policies continue to stoke the fire. And that economic strain spells continued misery for America’s ongoing credit crisis woes.

Elliott wave analysis is not a crystal ball. (No market-forecasting method is.)

But here's what is remarkable: Even when your Elliott wave forecast doesn't pan out, you have built-in safeguards to alert you -- and help you manage risk. Here's a real-life example.

Apple, How Market Booms Turn to Busts, Trading From New Paradigm to Despair / InvestorEducation / Learn to Trade

By: Chris_Vermeulen

I know most Apple enthusiasts will be rolling their eyes with my analysis and that's fine because the rest of us need people to buy our shares as we unload long positions or sell Apple short.

All joking aside, the charts below clearly show some very interesting information you cannot afford to overlook. At minimum, take a quick glance at the charts which tell the full story on their own...

Trading the Stock Markets with GPS / InvestorEducation / Elliott Wave Theory

By: EWI

(Here are Part 1 and Part 2 of this article.)

Think of Investing as a Trip

Here's my advice: View the Elliott wave Principle as your road map to the market and your investment idea as a trip.

You start the trip with a specific plan in mind, but conditions along the way may force you to alter course. Alternate counts are simply side roads that sometimes end up being the best path.

What Works Best Financial Markets GPS or Road Map? / InvestorEducation / Elliott Wave Theory

By: EWI

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleSome of the best stories about global positioning systems (GPS's) are the weird detours they sometimes recommend to drivers. Just like some of the weird detours that financial markets can make you take when you think they would be better off going in a straight line either up or down, depending on how you've positioned your trades.

Investors Need Strong Stomachs… Not Big Brains / InvestorEducation / Learning to Invest

By: Investment_U

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAlexander Green writes: It’s great fun to read heroic investment stories about individuals who made fortunes as a result of exceptional insights or sheer genius.

No one is better at telling these than Michael Lewis, the bestselling author who devotes much of his book, The Big Short, to Steve Eisman, a brilliant and eccentric hedge fund manager who made hundreds of millions in the recent financial crisis by buying credit default swaps on the triple-B-rated tranches (slices) of subprime mortgage bonds.

Stocks Overbought or Oversold? Where to Put Your Stops / InvestorEducation / Learn to Trade

By: Chris_Vermeulen

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIts 1:00pm ET and volume is drying up.

We did see a nice pop this morning breaking some previous pivot highs from last week and volume looks strong. Long story short… stocks are overbought here very similar to the past two highs as seen in the chart below. The big question from here is what to do now? Well, I wanna see some bullish patterns and volume over the next 12-48 hours if we are going to be looking to get long for an intermediate rally that lasts several weeks taking the indexes to new highs.

How to Make Money No Matter What the Stock Market Does / InvestorEducation / Learning to Invest

By: Investment_U

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleMarc Lichtenfeld writes: This weekend, I was at a boxing match, talking with someone affiliated with the show. He used to work on Wall Street. I asked him if he missed it. “Hell, no,” he said quickly. “Wall Street makes boxing look like an honest business.”

After the financial collapse, flash crash and various scandals, that’s the way many people view Wall Street.

And that’s despite the current bull market being the ninth longest in history – out of 26.

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe Elliott Wave Principle states that in financial markets, prices unfold in 5 wave patterns:

In wave 1, the trend has begun. Wave 2 makes a sucker outta you. Wave 3 is a powerful sight to see. Wave 4 is a corrective chore. And wave 5 is time to look alive -- once more.

How to build an Optimal Investment Portfolio with Markowatz's Portfolio Theory? / InvestorEducation / Risk Analysis

By: Sam_Chee_Kong

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThere have been many changes in today’s stock market trading landscape which is dominated by computers and ECN networks as compared to the ‘open outcry’ system that existed until the early 1980s. During those days markets are relatively inefficient in a way that price change does not reflect the change in the news and events. Those who can get hold of technologies will have the upper hand in trading the markets because they will receive the news much sooner than the rest of us. Those who possess telex, fax and computers will certainly have an advantage not only in receiving the news but also in executing the buy and sell orders.
