Looking For the Next Big Stock? Look at Design / Companies / Investing 2017

By: Boris_Dzhingarov

When it comes to market analysis, many investors know how to determine value by the numbers. Book value, P/E ratio, yearly revenue - these are all key numbers that value investors use to calculate a company’s intrinsic value. And while these factors are important and more investors should learn to use them, a numbers-first approach to analyzing a company for future growth potential leaves out some important observations. Perhaps most important of these is the company’s visual image, and how easy it is to understand and to use.

Self Employed? Understanding Business Insurance / Companies / SME

By: Submissions

Joanna Stovic writes: The number of people choosing to become self-employed is gradually rising. Those people strive for independence, control and freedom from the stress inflicted on them by their previous employers. Since the start of the economic downturn, there has been a 10% growth in the self-employment sector. While venturing into self-employment has its own challenges, it can be rewarding if you know the right steps to take.

Here’s Why The Defense Stocks Sector Is The Best Trade Today / Companies / Sector Analysis

By: John_Mauldin

BY PATRICK WATSON : September is not unfolding as expected.

Just a few weeks ago, this month was supposed to bring an angry stand-off in Washington and possibly a government shutdown or debt default. Those could still happen, but President Trump’s deal with the Democrats pushed it back to December.

And then we have the threat of nuclear war.

The 3 Best P2P Lending Platforms For Investors In 2017—Detailed Analysis / Companies / Investing 2017

By: John_Mauldin

BY STEPHEN MCBRIDE : Peer-to-peer lending (P2P) is a new method of debt financing that allows people to borrow and lend money without a financial institution. Harnessing technology and big data, P2P platforms connect borrowers to investors faster and cheaper than any bank.

P2P lending has grown rapidly in recent years and is a new source of fixed income for investors (download our new special report on investing in P2P loans for more). Compared to stock markets, P2P investments have less volatility and a low correlation. They also offer higher returns than conventional sources of yield.

With interest rates at all-time lows since 2008 and many historically “safe” investments like government bonds offering measly returns, investing in P2P loans in 2017 is a no-brainer.

Could This Be The Biggest Biotech Breakthrough Of The Year? / Companies / BioTech

By: OilPrice_Com

Someone dies of a stroke every 4 minutes in the United States. Globally, 15 million people suffer a stroke every year. It’s debilitating physically and financially—but one little-known company has developed a medical device that hopes to challenge that deadly statistic.

It’s been quietly developing this new technology for 10 years. Now it’s released updated preliminary clinical trial results, and signed a manufacturing deal which could make a significant impact in the medical device industry.

After a decade of painstaking development, we’re now nearing the end of the long road to validation, and for investors who understand this industry, this could be the critical juncture.

Dueling Technicals on Amazon AMZN / Companies / Amazon

By: Mike_Paulenoff

An analysis of Amazon (AMZN)'s charts on Monday identified a near-term potentially bullish formation juxtaposed against a tricky, potentially dangerous intermediate-term set up.

From a near-term perspective, AMZN on its hourly chart appeared to be putting in a "falling wedge"-type pattern (the opposite of a rising wedge), which usually represents a trend-ending formation. In this case, it would be the conclusion of the correction off of the July 27 high at 1083.20 to Monday's low at 942.25.

Why Trump Should Literally Start Selling American Blood To China / Companies / Healthcare Sector

By: John_Mauldin

BY PATRICK WATSON : In June, the US ran a $32.6 billion “trade in goods” deficit with China. That’s the difference between our imports from China ($42.3 billion) and our exports to China ($9.7 billion), according to the US Census Bureau.

That sounds terrible, but it’s really not if you look at the big picture.

The Trump administration doesn’t like trade deficits, so they must be reduced or eliminated. To do that, we need Chinese consumers to buy more “Made in the USA” products.

The 3 Assets to Add to Your Stocks Portfolio in This Rate Tightening Cycle / Companies / Investing 2017

By: John_Mauldin

BY STEPHEN MCBRIDE : I’m surprised how things can turn upside down in a year, even twice.

Exactly a year ago, in the wake of Brexit, the US 10-Year Treasury rate fell to an all-time low of 1.36%. At that point, bond yields—which move inversely to their price—had been declining for eight years with no end in sight.

Then Trump won the US election; another unexpected twist. An uptick in inflation and a series of rate hikes followed shortly afterward, and the 10-year yield has risen 67% from its lows.

Here’s Why Amazon Is Not a Monopoly / Companies / Amazon

By: Charles_Sizemore

I recently Google searched the term “Amazon monopoly.” It returned over 4 million results.

Now, a couple of those hits were links to the Amazon.com product page for the Monopoly board game we all grew up playing as kids.

(I was delighted to see there’s a Game of Thrones edition, complete with a direwolf token and King’s Landing as Boardwalk.)

Three Stocks Breaking Out / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Harry_Boxer

Three stocks breaking out of consolidation patterns lead our charts to watch today, while one trending lower is highlighted as a potential short.

Corcept Therapeutics Incorporated (CORT) climbed 87 cents, or 6.2%, to close at $14.87 on 1.6 million shares traded Tuesday. The stock, which had run up sharply for a week after beating estimates and raising guidance in its August 1 earnings report, had given back part of that move in a falling wedge pattern, before popping out of that wedge on Tuesday. If price clears the lateral resistance level at $15.26, next targets for the biotech company are $16.50 and $18. Short interest of 10.6 times its average volume could fuel the move as shorts cover on a rally.

By: Submissions

We live in a world flooded with information. Most of the times, we skim through it, merely glancing at the articles, videos, and images that come our way. But, sometimes, we stumble on a piece of content so amazing that we hit the share button without giving it a second thought.

So, what is it that makes content good?

Surely, you are working hard on every piece of content you create, doing thorough research, optimizing it for SEO, and sharing it on all important social media channels. So, why, in spite of your consistent efforts, some articles perform better than others?

Why Is Home Depot Stock Slumping After Earnings Beat? / Companies / Corporate Earnings

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Home Depot (HD) beat on EPS, Revenues, and Same Store Sales when it reported on Tuesday prior to the market open. However, after initially popping 2.5% to 158.11 from Monday's 154.26 close, HD reversed sharply into negative territory at 153.00/10 in pre-market action and closed the day at 150.17, down 2.6%.

I am not sure what the selling is all about, except for a "sell-the-news" reaction, but one look at my 4-hour chart of HD, we can see that HD actually peaked back in mid-May, and since has established a series of lower-highs (including Tuesday morning's spike to another lower-high).

Neil Howe: The Amazon-Walmart Rivalry Will Determine the Future of Retail / Companies / Amazon

By: John_Mauldin

My good friend Neil Howe has reconsidered the escalating war between Amazon and Walmart for the future of retail. And in true Neil fashion, he has come up with some surprising insights.

One of the takeaways here is that market “duopolies” can save consumers money—so you and I had better hope the battle isn’t resolved anytime soon.

Did you know that one in five US consumers is now an Amazon Prime member? But don’t count Walmart out, Neil warns.

By: Boris_Dzhingarov
