Big Cap US Stocks Fundamentals / Companies / US Stock Markets

By: Zeal_LLC

The mega-cap stocks that dominate the US markets have enjoyed an amazing bull run.  But February’s first correction in years proved things are changing.  With that unnatural low-volatility melt-up behind us, it’s more important than ever to keep leading stocks’ underlying fundamentals in focus.  They help investors understand which major American companies are the best buys and when to deploy capital in them.

For some years now, I’ve been doing deep dives into the quarterly financial and operational results in the small contrarian sector of gold and silver miners.  While hard and tedious work, this exercise has proven incredibly valuable.  With each passing quarter my knowledge of individual companies grows, helping to ferret out miners with superior fundamentals and the greatest upside potential.  Traders love the resulting essays.

Last Remaining Copy of Stolen-Data is worth $100 Billion to Russia. Good Chance Facebook Will Be Shut Down / Companies / Cyber War

By: Andrew_Butter

Evidence is emerging that the psych-ops techniques allegedly used by AggregateIQ to brainwash electors, were extraordinary effective. But now everyone who allegedly had copies of the stolen data that was used to profile and target; is saying that if they did have copies, which they largely deny, they have deleted them.

They have had plenty of time; the story broke in a year ago; last-week, Britain’s answer to Robo-Cop, Policeman-Plod, searched the offices of Cambridge Analytica, guess what he didn’t find? Meanwhile BBC Channel-4 reports that AggregateIQ seems to have disappeared into thin-air, doubtless they trashed their hard-drives on their way out. What’s left?

The Bayer-Monsanto Merger Is Bad News for the Planet / Companies / Food Crisis

By: Ellen_Brown

Two new studies from Europe show that the number of birds in agricultural areas of France has crashed by a third in just 15 years, with some species being almost eradicated. The collapse in the bird population mirrors the discovery last October that more than three quarters of all flying insects in Germany have vanished in just three decades. Insects are the staple food source of birds, the pollinators of fruits and the aerators of the soil.

Toys R Us Not the Only Major Retail Casualty / Companies / Retail Sector

By: Harry_Dent

Toys R Us just joined the unenviable list of top retail failures of the past decade: Circuit City, Linens-N-Things, A&P (the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company), Sports Authority, and Radio Shack (whose downfall we called in 2016).

While there are many reasons for the loss of these once household names, and Toys R Us is citing massive debt burdens as one element in its undoing, there is a much bigger – and more predictable – underlying factor.

Why Spotify Will Likely Surge During Its IPO / Companies / IPOs

By: Boris_Dzhingarov

IPO’s are nothing new to the market. At the end of the day, companies go public all the time. Some of them fly out of the gates, some of them fall dramatically, and others stay relatively flat. However, when it comes to spotify in particular, this thing is likely to soar.

Sure, the company is a strong company, and there’s definitely value here. However, that’s not the primary reason that the Spotify stock price is likely to rocket on the launch of the IPO. The big reason has to do with the unique aspects of the shares that will become available when the IPO goes public. Today, we’ll talk about what’s so unique about the shares that will be sold during the Spotify IPO, why this unique aspect will likely lead to a big spike in value right out of the gate, and what to watch for following the IPO launch.

Facebook: The Anti-Social Network Covert Data Gathering / Companies / Internet

By: Raul_I_Meijer

All of a sudden, politicians in the EU, UK, and USA all want to talk to Mark Zuckerberg. That’s a bad enough sign all by itself. It means they all either have been asleep, complicit, or they’re not very bright. The media tries to convince us the Facebook ‘scandal’ is about Trump, Russia (yawn..) and elections. It’s not. Not even close.

If Zuckerberg ever shows up for any of these meetings with ‘worried’ politicians, he’ll come with a cabal of lawyers in tow, and they’ll put the blame on anyone but Facebook and say the company was tricked by devious parties who didn’t live up to their legal agreements.

Brick and Mortar Stores vs. Online Ssellers / Companies / Retail Sector

By: BATR

For consumers who watched the Wal-Mart store spread throughout the countryside saw local small retailers became an endangered species. Now, some may relish the payback with the dominance of online juggernaut Amazon, who has a prime objective of closing down what remains of the brick and mortar stores. Both in the shopping center era and today with the direct delivery to your doorstep, the low cost seller proves to be the winner. What has changed is that government subsidies are fueling the carriage costs.

Affiliate Marketing Tips and Network Recommendations / Companies / SME

By: Submissions

Andy Charlson writes: Affiliate marketing is often referred to as a ‘win win’ business solution and quite rightly so. For the affiliate there is an opportunity to tap into often lucrative income streams at relatively low cost. For the merchant/advertiser there is a potentially diverse customer base that can be harnessed without commensurate advertising costs. So what are some tips for anyone considering branching into this form of marketing?

Blue Chip Companies on Track for $800 billion Buyback Record in 2018 / Companies / Investing 2018

By: Richard_Mills

Donald Trump's tax cuts are already paying dividends... well, actually the companies that are benefiting from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed by the Trump Administration in December are not only returning cash to shareholders in the form of dividends, but are presiding over what could be the largest share buyback program in history.

The legislation slashed the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% and the top individual tax rate shrunk to 37%. It also cut income tax rates, doubled the standard deduction and eliminated personal exemptions. All told, the Trump tax cuts are the eighth largest since 1918, and represent just over 1% of GDP – in other words, how much federal revenue the government will forego as a percentage of the economy.

Bitcoin saw incredible gains in 2017, rising from $1,000 all the way to $19,000 in mid-December.

Reintroducing The Concept Of Stock Market Investing Risk / Companies / Risk Analysis

By: WMA

It has been a while. Aside from a bit of turbulence at the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016, those investors turning a blind eye to financial market risk enjoyed a winning strategy since 2011. Equity market volatility had been particularly subdued from the U.S. election in November 2016 until this month. We knew that this extreme complacency had to end…it just lasted longer than any rational analyst could have predicted.

It almost seems perverse to write a Commentary on the importance of managing risk in this great economic expansion with strong company profits – aided by the Republican tax cuts. Investors who just buy companies whose share prices are setting all-time record highs pass as financial geniuses. However the earnings outlook, in our opinion, has gotten a bit too rosy. Wall Street optimism has markets priced for perfection, and with many market-leading stocks trading at levels inconsistent with past earnings cycles. And more experienced investors should know that bull markets do not die on pessimism. Our challenge is to convince our readers and investors that investing in a portfolio of blue-chip stocks today is not a sufficient risk management strategy.
