Best Car Dash Cam Review: Z-Edge S3 Dual Dash Cam - UNBOXING (1) / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: HGR

Dash Cam, a camera that goes onto your car's dashboard is now deemed to be a necessity rather than optional as one of the first things your insurer will ask following an accident is do you have dash cam footage. However, car owners hunting for a dash cam can be bewildered by the choice that ranges across the price spectrum from as little as £10 to several hundreds of pounds.

So in the search for the perfect dash cam we spent some time hunting for the optimum spec, starting with a front only camera soon progressing to a dual front and back camera configuration as expectations are that any trouble will come from the back rather than the front. The next requirement was that the dash cam should be able to record many hours of footage so that we don't need to empty the camera too often, unfortunately most dash cams are very limited in the max micro sd cards they can take, usually to just 32gb, which at 1080p equates to about 3 hours of footage. Another potential problem is that most cameras make use of suction mounts which effectively tend to triple the size of the camera on ones windscreen, so our requirement was for a compact low profile dash cam.

TESCO Super Markets All in One 50p Flower Baskets! / Personal_Finance / Gardening

By: Anika_Walayat

With spring around the corner, Britains super markets such as TESCO will soon be stocked with loads of gardening plants including the all in one flower baskets, populated with a variety of plants that tend to start at £5 each. However amongst the pile of flower baskets there will be the odd disheveled flower basket that staff perhaps forgot to water, that the store will be eager to get rid of and so tend to be heavily discounted to perhaps as low as just 50p!

Get on Top Of Debt Before It Gets on Top of You / Personal_Finance / Credit Cards & Scoring

By: Boris_Dzhingarov

The financial markets are in a constant state of flux. Judging from the current volatility in equities markets, one would be remiss not to pay attention to economic indicators when making trading or investment decisions. For example, one of the most important components of investment-related decision-making is interest rates. On Wednesday, 21 March 2018, the Fed FOMC will be meeting to discuss another possible rate hike. The federal funds rate (FFR) is expected to rise 25-basis points in the region of 1.50% – 1.75%. The current probability of such a rate hike taking place is 83.1%. This has far-reaching ramifications on a typical US household’s ability to manage debt repayments.

Loan Shark Nation: Forcing Our Kids To Choose Between Student Loans And Everything Else / Personal_Finance / Student Finances

By: John_Rubino

It’s mid-winter, which means millions of high school seniors are winding up their childhoods and planning for what comes next. For many this next stage is college.

But in yet another example of how we baby boomers have rigged the system in our favor at the expense of pretty much everyone else, student loans – barely necessary when most boomers graduated 40 years ago – have become a life-defining problem for our kids and grandkids.

Best Cash ISA Savings Account for Soaring UK Inflation - February 2018 / Personal_Finance / ISA's

By: Nadeem_Walayat

As the financial year draws to a close, many ISA savers will be busy seeking to capitalise on their 20k annual tax free ISA savings allowance, buoyed by mainstream financial press coverage as apparently UK interest rates are heading much higher which includes for savers as well as borrowers as the Bank of England is expected to continue hiking UK base rates and withdraw some of its support for Britain's banking sector such as the funding for lending scheme that has resulted in a catastrophic downwards death spiral in UK savings interest rates for the past 5 years. Resulting in savers literally being ripped off by the tax payer bailed out banking sector that for the duration have continued to bank bonuses on the basis of artificial profits engineered by the Bank of England in an attempt at recapitalisng the bankrupt banks all whilst the savers continue to suffer and pay the price in terms of loss of real terms purchasing power of savings as inflation continues to erode the heard earned wealth of savers.

How to Check Engine Oil Level, Dip Stick, Land Rover Discovery Sport / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

It is very important for Land Rover Discovery Sport owners to regularly check their engine oil levels because the Land Rover sales pitch of only requiring an oil change every 21,000 miles does NOT match the reality of real world driving as likely most will been requiring an oil change a good 10,000 miles before 21,000 miles have been driven. So do check you oil every 1000 miles or so to ensure it does not need topping up or changing. So find out in our latest video of how to easily check your oil level, which if low should be topped up to prevent a much earlier oil change than that which Land Rover suggests.

How to Check Land Rover Discovery Sport Adblue and Oil Change Service Interval Levels / Personal_Finance / Motoring

By: N_Walayat

It is very, very important for Land Rover Discovery Sport owners to regularly check their Adblue and Oil Change Service interval levels because they don't tend to change in line with what Land Rover states i.e. that an oil service is due every 21,000 miles etc. So checking ensures you are not suddenly caught off guard by a dash warning. Adblue is a mixture that is added to diesel fuel so as to lower emissions and meet EURO6 regulations. You car will have a 13 litre Adblue tank which technically should be consumed at the rate of 1litre per 1000 miles driven.

Cold Start to the Year as Interest-free Credit Card Competition Stalls / Personal_Finance / Credit Cards & Scoring

By: MoneyFacts

Entering a new year could open new opportunities to pay back debts, so we typically start to see competition heat up in the 0% balance transfer credit card market. However, so far this year these much-anticipated deals have been put on a bit of a back-burner, as there have been very few launches or improvements in the sector. Since the start of January, only two card providers (AA and Barclaycard) have improved or launched interest-free balance transfer offers.

The Worst Year on Record for Cash ISA Returns / Personal_Finance / ISA's

By: MoneyFacts

Cash ISAs have been a popular go-to for consumers looking to take advantage of their tax-free allowance, but over the years these deals have dwindled in both number and the returns offered.

The average return on cash ISAs over the past year was just 0.93%, the lowest seen on moneyfacts.co.uk records. In contrast, the average stocks and shares ISA returned growth of 11.75%*. In January 2017, the average cash ISA rate fell to its lowest level at 0.82%, but after several months of consistent rate rises, it has today hit 1.09%. This is, however, still much lower than what could be achieved just two years ago. In April, the anticipated ISA season gave very little, as the average easy access ISA rate and average notice ISA rate both fell to their lowest level.
