The new series of HBO's award winning HOMELAND began Sunday that onc more paints the CIA as fighting the good fight across the globe against threats to America. However, wishful thinking on part of the writers of Hillary winning the election did not quite pan out that way. So within 10 minutes of the start of episode 1 we see a sane President Elect understanding HER brief and having valid questions of the lead actors in the series about sending in 70,000 ground troops into Syria, which does not gel with the reality of President Trump who's policy is simply to "Bomb the Shit out of them".

Not when one imagines how actual CIA briefings are likely going down with a stony faced Donald Trump not interested in any of the details as he 'does not do reading' in fact he has little interest in any of the activities that the CIA is engaged in where it is more likely he would bring up the size of the crowd at his inauguration or that he is at war with the media and wants to redirect the CIA towards that end rather than fighting terrorism.

The reality is the CIA today has more covert resources committed towards investigating President Trumps links to America's arch adversary Russia than any other single threat, Given that Putin helped Trump win the US election through hacking and leaking of thousands of DNC emails. And where as a reward President Trump has promised to take an early look at scrapping the sanctions against Russia as well as a Summit (holiday) so that Trump and Putin and meet in person and congratulate themselves on a job well done.

So this series of HOMELAND is just not going to be anywhere near as outlandish, or crazier than real life itself. One where the President actually called the intelligence agencies NAZI's! One where his focus is more on war with the media than with terror. One where he does not care what his good buddies Putin does in eastern europe as long as he keeps those "pee pee" tapes secret.

Therefore it would have been for a far more entertaining and realistic series if HBO had waited until the election result before beginning shooting the series because they will now have missed so many story lines!

Therefore this series of HOMELAND can only disappoint because the reality of a Trump Presidency will be far more entertaining on a daily basis.
