By: Andrew_Abraham

All too many investors have over estimated the rate of return they are looking for. Many times they take on way too much risk without realizing the implications. Risk and return is a double edged sword. The question I always ask or think…is how much risk do I need to put on or invest for x% rate of return.

Stock Market Investors September Warning / Stock-Markets / Investing 2009

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWilliam Patalon III writes: When the "Great Crash" came in 1929, it came in October. So, too, did the infamous "Crash of '87." And last year, during a tortuous October that led to even lower lows in the months to come, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 19% of its value in just 30 days.

Investment Grade Value Stock Index (IGVSI) Soars 24% / Portfolio / Investing 2009

By: Steve_Selengut

The Investment Grade Value Stock Index is a barometer of a small but elite sector of the stock market. Some Investment Grade Value Stocks are included in all averages and indices, but even the Dow Jones Industrial Average includes several issues that are below Investment Grade and very few boast an A+ S & P rating.

Don't Invest in an Stock Index Tracker, Stick with Defensive Stocks / Stock-Markets / Investing 2009

By: MoneyWeek

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleJuly was a very good month for the UK stock market – the best in more than six years, in fact.

The FTSE 100 rose by 8.5% during the month, as more and more investors flip from bearish to bullish, scared of being left behind by the rally. And with the banks set to report a rebound in profits (however artificial) this week, the cheer may well continue. Barclays has already set the scene this morning with a pre-tax profit of nearly £3bn for the first half of this year.

Is this a Stocks Bull Market? / Stock-Markets / Investing 2009

By: Michael_Swanson

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleMy take on the stock market changed last week, because I started to buy and recommend some stocks, something I haven't done in a long time. The economy is still bad and I don't see any signs of a real recovery yet and certainly not a sustainable economic expansion, but it appears that the stock market is just going to keep going higher anyway. And it looks like the overall intermediate-term trend is up.

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleRon Rowland writes: Right now the U.S. is in a deep recession. None of us know for sure when it will end, and the short-term indicators are inconclusive. Yet there is one thing I’ve learned from years of investing: The stock market is not just a big monolith. It’s a complex machine with lots of moving parts — and they don’t all move together.

Stocks Bear Market Low is Now Behind Us- Ignore the ‘Noise’ / Stock-Markets / Investing 2009

By: Puru_Saxena

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe recent market action suggests that the bear-market low is now behind us.

Over the past few days, most of the stronger emerging markets broke out to new recovery highs.  Furthermore, over the past couple of days, even the lagging stock markets in the West managed to climb to new recovery highs. It is noteworthy that yesterday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average break through its overhead resistance and closed above the psychologically important 9,000 level.
