The Populist Revolution: Bernie Sanders and Beyond / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Ellen_Brown

The world is undergoing a populist revival. From the revolt against austerity led by the Syriza Party in Greece and the Podemos Party in Spain, to Jeremy Corbyn’s surprise victory as Labour leader in the UK, to Donald Trump’s ascendancy in the Republican polls, to Bernie Sanders’ surprisingly strong challenge to Hillary Clinton – contenders with their fingers on the popular pulse are surging ahead of their establishment rivals.

Today’s populist revolt mimics an earlier one that reached its peak in the US in the 1890s. Then it was all about challenging Wall Street, reclaiming the government’s power to create money, curing rampant deflation with US Notes (Greenbacks) or silver coins (then considered the money of the people), nationalizing the banks, and establishing a central bank that actually responded to the will of the people.

The CIA’s Presidents / ElectionOracle / Intelligence Agencies

By: BATR

Any unmasking of the shadow forces that pull the strings that often determine events requires a time frame context. Historical study can go back to antiquity for classic examples of surreptitious intrigue, but in an age of distorted and diachronic mind control, the creation of the CIA by President Truman was our modern day and literal water shed monument. Coming out of the Office of Strategic Services, the brainchild of Wild Bill Donovan developed into the playpen of Allen Dulles. The OSS origins on their face are clandestine by nature. Spooks and spies might be a trendy name for a board game, but when the pieces on the squares are pushed in direction of liquidation and oblivion, the uninitiated are truly the uneducated, for not grasping their significance. Being one of those pieces requires the responsibility of every citizen to wake up out of their lethargy.

Teflon Donald Trump Could Shoot Somebody and Still Not Lose Voters / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Mike_Shedlock

At an Iowa rally earlier today, Donald Trump made the arrogant claim "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

CNN reported Trump refused to clarify what he meant.

Donald Trump boasted Saturday that support for his presidential campaign would not decline even if he shot someone in the middle of a crowded street.

UK Opinion Pollsters Inquiry Smoke Screen for Election Forecast Failure of Polls Sales Industry / ElectionOracle / Opinion Polls & Surveys

By: Nadeem_Walayat

The run up to the May 2015 general election had the the people of Britain convinced that they were going to the polls that were unanimously proclaimed by the mainstream media as being too close to call, one where the Labour and Conservative parties were virtually neck and neck and where even if the Conservatives managed to pull a a handful of seats ahead would still lose be default as they would not be able to form a majority even with Lib Dem support and therefore the Labour party was destined to win the 2015 general election, all of which was based on a year of opinion polls that consistently presented this consensus view right up to the polls closed at 10pm.

2016 Presidential Unreality Show - Hillary is No Snow White / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: BATR

The theatrics from a presidential campaign cycle is some of the best entertainment that a political junkie can hope for. Imagining that the electoral process has even a remote connection that reflects the will of the people is one of the idiocies that Americans delude themselves with in order to rationalize that the country is ruled under democratic elections. At the outset, elections are actually a selection ratification provided by the party hacks and media gatekeepers that serve their supra-elite masters.

The Rand Paul Campaign: Unlocking Liberty’s Majority / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Stephen_Merrill

It is quite a difference a few months of campaigning can make in US Presidential politics.

Take the relative value of the Rand Paul presidential campaign from earlier this year when Senator Paul was winning the CPAC poll compared to the present time that is awash with Donald Trump Republican mania.

The good times were good for Rand Paul for President at its start: the best played Senate filibusters in recent memory, being lauded as the most powerful Senator when he controlled the Senate majority leader’s political life in Kentucky, becoming the only Republican national contender with positive outreach to the young voter and to the truly disaffected voter, the heir of Ron Paul’s liberty movement, the leader of the successful anti-NSA spying forces and media poll numbers for President sometimes beating Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump vs. The Quiet Christian / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Walter_Brasch

Before a cheering and whooping crowd in Mount Pleasant, S.C., Donald Trump, spewing the blustery rhetoric of a demagogue, declared that the United States should ban all Muslims from entering the country.

He claimed to have Muslim friends who supported his position. He claimed that Muslims want “to change your religion.” He claimed that a poll, one created by an anti-Muslim extremist, showed that one-fourth of American Muslims believe violence against Americans is justified.

Petition to Ban Donald Trump from Entering the UK Heading for 1 Million Signatories / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Donald Trumps latest electioneering 'calculated' outburst has succeeded in mobilising much of the world against him, let alone fellow Republicans condemning his Islamophobic statement that ALL muslims should be banned from entering the United States and then going on to drag the UK into his propaganda 'Info War' by stating that there were no go areas for UK police in London, something which the Metropolitan Police immediately rejected. Donald Trump's subsequent response has been to blindly continue on with his 'Info War' as he repeated his comments several more times throughout the day. In response to which there has been world wide condemnation as exemplified by a petition to the UK Parliament requesting that a debate be held to vote on banning Donald Trump from entering the UK as a hate preacher.

Dear Mainstream Media, Stop Freaking Out About Donald Trump’s Polls / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: John_Mauldin

I’m going to offer something a little different in this week’s Outside the Box. Nate Silver has consistently been one of the best political analysts of the past 12 years. I wasn’t terribly enamored of his move from the New York Times to ESPN – to go back to covering sports rather than politics – but he still covers politics over at 538.

The Republican Party - Extremism & Democracy / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: EconMatters

The Republican Party has been hijacked by the right wing Christian conservatives, the gun toting NRA extremists, the Tea Party extremists and the racially and culturally narrow-minded factions across the country. The party is a complete mess, it really has lost its way, and is destined to lose the Presidential Election to Hillary Clinton. The emergence of front runners in the Republican campaigning season of Donald Trump and Ben Carson speaks volumes regarding how far this party has lost its way.

Trump vs Sanders, Establishment Rule still in Control / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: BATR

Even if you believe that anti-establishment candidates are resonating with the general electorate, it would be a terrible mistake to think that the power exerted by the actual establishment is at a tipping point. Frankly, the system cares little what the people think and voting is nothing but an annoyance in the true culture war that is being waged and won by the money cartel and their media tools. Imagine a presidential race between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders? Might make for big ratings, but will never happen within a political party structure where both Republicans and Democrats are sucking from the same venomous collectivist moo juice.

The 24/7 U.S. Election and Media Carousel / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Walter_Brasch

The national news media—and their sidekicks, the cackling pundits—had been asking the same questions the past six months. “Will he? Won’t he? Should he? Shouldn’t he? Can he? Can’t he?”

The “he” is Joe Biden. The vice-president said numerous times he was still thinking about running for president, but hadn’t made up his mind. The Biden question kept the media busy speculating about an issue that even Mr. Biden couldn’t answer, nor should he have been forced to make a commitment in the media’s time frame.

Donald Trump on Yellen, Clinton Sanders and Having World Leaders Call Him / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Bloomberg

Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump sat down with host Stephanie Ruhle on Bloomberg TV's new flagship morning program, Bloomberg <GO> at Trump Towers in midtown Manhattan. In a wide-ranging interview, Trump discussed China, diplomacy, tech valuations, social security, corporate taxes, campaign finance, and defended his tax plan against criticism from John Kasich. He spoke about Janet Yellen, Carl Icahn, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren.

On Janet Yellen's decision to delay hiking interest rates Trump said: "I think she's a very political person...what she's doing, and I'm sure that with the blessing of the president, because he doesn't want to have a recession or worse in his administration. Get him out of here, let him go to my golf courses - because I'm sure he'll be playing because I have the best golf courses, by the way and I have the best one in Washington - But he's going to go play golf and somebody's going to suffer... You know what they're doing, Janet Yellen, for political reasons, is keeping the interest rate so low that the next guy, the poor person who takes over as president could have a real problem because this is a political thing."

EU Referendum - Assessing Britain's Ties to the Europe Union / ElectionOracle / EU_Referendum

By: STRATFOR

Mark Fleming-Williams writes: At some point in the next two years, British voters will decide whether to remain a part of the European Union. This will be the first time Britons have been consulted on the subject since 1975, when 67 percent voted to stay in. If it does decide to leave, the United Kingdom will become the first country to leave the European Union since it was created as the European Community in 1957. The repercussions would be felt not just in Britain, but also across the Continent and indeed across the world. To predict the eventual result of the vote, it is first important to understand the factors that have kept the United Kingdom in the union this long.

Trump’s Triumph: Billionaire Blowhard Exposes Fake Political System / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2016

By: Mike_Whitney

FOX News GOP Presidential Debate Extravaganza featured the most riveting two minute political exchange ever heard on national television. During a brief colloquy between Republican frontrunner  Donald Trump and Fox moderator Brett Baier, the pugnacious casino magnate revealed the appalling truth about the American political system, that the big money guys like Trump own the whole crooked contraption lock, stock, and barrel, and that, the nation’s fake political leaders do whatever they’re told to do.  Without question, it was most illuminating commentary to ever cross the airwaves. Here’s the entire exchange direct from the transcript:
