You’re Being Lied to About AI Stocks Investing / Companies / Investing 2023

By: Stephen_McBride

Sam Walton’s first boss told him, “Maybe you’re just not cut out for retail.”

Haha. You know the punchline. Sam went on to build a retailer you might have heard of: Walmart (WMT).

Yep, Walmart started with one determined 44-year-old man.

And thanks to the magic of the stock market—which lets us piggyback on exceptional guys like Sam—investors got rich too.

PAYPAL PYPL Stock 50% Opportunity / Companies / Investing 2023

By: Nadeem_Walayat

A peak under the hood, very slow / stagnant growth, current PE is 12.6 but with share dilution of 93.% will put downwards pressure on the PE and thus upwards pressure on the stock price, suggests that Paypal's bear market should be ending and if the buy backs continue then it should trend higher. throw in multiple expansion during a bull market and the stock price could target a 50% advance within the 2 years or so years off current $60 so to $90, throw in a bit of fomo and paypal could easily see $100, so I will be accumulating a little as a trade similar to the bond trade that targets a 50% return over 2 years though no dividend with paypal, so definitely not an invest and forget stock.

Investing in UK Bond ETFs - -GLTL and 3GIL / Interest-Rates / Investing 2023

By: Nadeem_Walayat

GLTL.L - £39 - UK Gilts 15+Yr

UK bonds have been obliterated, portfolios built up in bond funds over the past 10 years have been wiped out! Now you know why I have avoided bonds. Pittance in return during their bull market followed by a spectacular collapse, all whilst the lemmings encouraged stock investors to seek safety in bonds! This bond fund has COLLAPSED BY 60% off its high of £82! Imagine those who had parked the bulk of their cash in such funds by following the advice of FA's! Only discovering the catastrophe when they get their annual statements, A lot of TV's will have had remotes thrown at them! This is why there is no FREE LUNCH! It is YOUR MONEY it is upto YOU to DO THE WORK and understand what you are invested in else PAY THE PRICE of a 60% wipeout in what is supposed to be an ultra safe low volatility asset! When the exact opposite is true! If you lost similar on UK bonds then it's your fault for being LAZY! DO THE WORK!

GPN $99 - EGF +3%, +15%, P/E 10, F5.2

The unloved or even hated financial sector is ripe for a turnaround. GPN is on the launch pad pending a break of a previous high at $114 to get the ball rolling. Target of $150 would represent a 50% advance on the current price. I am locked and loaded 172% invested.

Quantum AI Tech Stocks Portfolio / Companies / Investing 2023

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Despite the stock market falling as expected many target stocks have stubbornly resisted correcting to any significant degree which is probably due to flight to safety to AI tech stocks, the likes of Nvidia, AVGO, TSMC whilst others appear to have fully embraced the panic and fallen hard such as GPN where I was already over invested to 128% going into the correction but now after the free fall below $100 stand at 150% invested, Further across the board mostly small buys have lifted my exposure to 87.8% invested 12.2% cash accumulating into Google, Amazon, Qualcom, Micron, IBM, JNJ Pfizer, and higher risk stocks - GPN, KLAC, CARA, ULH. amongst others.

Silent Killers of Stock and Bond Investors 50+ / Stock-Markets / Investing 2023

By: Chris_Vermeulen

Recently I was shocked after speaking with five different investors on the phone. These investors have been involved in the markets for many years, and they trade their accounts. Surprisingly, not a single one of them knew what drawdowns were, as there are two types. In short, it is how we gauge an overall investment strategy’s risk level so you know if a given approach fits within your risk tolerance.

I did a survey several years ago that still blows my mind because the results were so backwards and frustrating. To this day, I’m experiencing the same thing with traders and investors, so I want to talk about it here – drawdowns and what you may not know about them.

A drawdown measures how much an investment or trading account is down from its highest point. It is used to quantify the extent of loss suffered by an investor or trader during a period of market decline. A drawdown is expressed as a percentage. Also, the maximum drawdown (MaxDD) is the largest percentage drop from the account’s highest point to its lowest point over the life of the strategy, which in laymen’s terms, is the largest loss.

The Truth No One Wants to Hear about Stocks / Stock-Markets / Investing 2023

By: Submissions

By Justin Spittler : I’ve been getting under some people’s skin.

And it’s because I’ve been unapologetically bullish for the last couple months.

I get it. No one wants to hear the bull argument after the horrible year we just had in stocks.

But things have changed.

Many investors haven’t entertained the possibility that last year’s bear market is over.

They’re certain the stock market will head much lower.

Their arguments sound something like: “Inflation is still too high; the economy is speeding toward a recession; the Fed isn’t done raising rates.”

Coinbase - COIN Stock Price Analysis Forecast 2023 / Companies / Investing 2023

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Ai Stocks Portfolio

A quick look at the current state of my portfolio which is now 88.5% invested after arrival of approx 5% of fresh cash and after I sold all of my NBIX holding given that it earlier retreated from a multi year high, and that it tends to trade within a range of $125 to $76. I have update the table to indicate when columns were last updated. I have also replaced the beta column with something more useful called Future Growth (1-10), which is basically how I see the COMPANY doing in terms of future growth potential where 10 is the highest and 1 is the lowest, note this does not mean that the stock prices will match growth potential due to a myriad of factors such as sentiment, valuation and politics, but it gives insight into the underlying prospects for the businesses where the two stocks that score 10 are AMD and TSMC which is why I am heavily invested in both and don't fret about stock price drops in either as recently experienced because the underlying businesses have huge long-term future growth potential. Stocks that score 9 are Nvidia, Facebook, ASML and IBM, which again means I am not too phased by what we recently witnessed with the likes of META and and Nvidia, stock prices rarely reflect the actual state of the underlying business as they oscillate between extreme fear and extreme FOMO as illustrated when one watches the Cartoon Network (CNBC).

Stocks Analysis Bonanza Trend Forecasts - GOOG, QCOM, ASML.... / Companies / Investing 2023

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Dear Reader

Plus a bonus 11th stock, plus a deep look and trend forecast for the Bitcoin price for 2023 made right at the peak of the crisis of confidence in the crypto markets following the SCAM that is FTX and SBernieF.

First briefly, the S&P spent the last 10 days consolidating it's recent advance taking the S&P down to a low of 3900 as it chopped away at bullish positions and accumulated bearish positions which as I voiced in the comments was sowing the seeds for a break above 4000 to target 4100 which happened Tuesday, Though despite seasonal expectations for a santa rally, this rally is HATED by most for one only needs to go over to twitter to see why where tweeters correctly point out there is a weight of both technical and fundamental evidence against the rally such recession blah blah blah, hawkish Fed blah blah blah, and even if the market does go a little higher there is the impending doom of the 200 day moving average blah blah blah. All of this is PERFECT for the rally to fire it's BOOSTER rockets and propel this market well beyond anyone's expectations as I wrote in my last analysis that I would not be surprise if when the dust settles the S&P is trading north of 4300!
