Translated transcript of the exchange in Saddam's final minutes prior to being hanged
Saddam - Oh God.
Crowd - May God's blessings be upon Muhammad and his household.
Crowd - And may God hasten their appearance and curse their enemies.
Crowd - Moqtada [Al-Sadr]...Moqtada...Moqtada.
Saddam - Do you consider this bravery?
Crowd - Long live Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr.
Crowd - To hell.
Crowd - Please do not. The man is being executed. .
Saddam - There is no God but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of God. There is no God but Allah and I testify that Muhammad...
At this point the trapdoors open and Saddam is hanged.
The taunting of Saddam by a predominantly Shiite crowd is going to anger the Sunni community.
The European Union condemned Saddam Hussein's execution on Saturday, with one top official calling it a barbaric act that could create an undeserved martyr of the former Iraqi president. “You don't fight barbarism with acts that I deem as barbaric. The death penalty is against the values of the European Union,” said Louis Michel, EU commissioner for developments and humanitarian aid.

Re: Saddam Hussein Hanging Video of being executed / hanged on the web
Eventhough he was a bad man, and deserved to be hanged !
The videos show that it was very badly managed, looks like they were taunting him all the way to the gallows, hence no sound on the original release.
But your translation and what Ive read elsewhere clearly show it was the Shi-ites in charge of the hanging and they took some revenge on him.
The Sunnis watching this video will be out for somesort of revenge themselves ! Which means more deaths in iraq of innocents on all sides.
Very badly managed execution !

Re: Saddam Hussein Hanging Video - taunts
More on the taunts -
In video footage of the execution, apparently captured on a mobile phone and spreading across the Internet on Sunday, December31 , the hangers can be clearly heard chanting "Moqtada, Moqtada, Moqtada," and "Mohammad Baqir Al-Sadr," according to Al-Jazeera satellite channel.
The reference is to Moqtada Al-Sadr, a firebrand Shiite scholar whose Mahdi Army militia is blamed for much of the sectarian bloodshed in chaos-marred Iraq, and his father Mohammad Baqir Al-Sadr.
One of the execution party calls: "Long live Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr!"
"Go to hell," said another.
Saddam appears angry but remains composed in his final minutes, standing on a dusty steel platform in a dark hall in a north Baghdad military base, his hands bound and a rough hemp rope round his neck, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).
As the Sunni leader drops through the metal trapdoor his final prayer, the "Shahadah" or the testimony of faith, is caught short: "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet. There is no god but Allah and Muhammad..."
Noise erupts in the room as the filmmaker struggles to get a shot of Saddam's face, hanging lifeless to one side. "The tyrant has fallen, damn him!"
Saddam was executed by the Iraqi government at dawn on Saturday, December30 , in a former military intelligence building in the Khadimiyah district of Baghdad.
The69 -year-old strongman had been convicted of crimes against humanity in the case of the village of Dujail, a Shiite community north of Baghdad where in 1982 Saddam survived an assassination attempt.
Saddam fell in March2003 , when a US-led invasion force took Baghdad, and he was arrested by American commandos after nine months on the run.
He was tried by a new Shiite-led government and convicted on November 5 after a year-long series of rowdy hearings, marked by boycotts from his lawyers and by political grandstanding from the defendants.
That some Sadr supporters, described by the Pentagon as the most dangerous faction in Iraq's current sectarian war, were present at Saddam's death seems likely to increase tension in the country after the execution.
Iraqi state television showed a different video of the execution in which the exchange was not audible, and which cut away before the trapdoor opened.

Re: Saddam Hussein Hanging Video of being executed / hanged on the web
I watched the video with a mixture of realizing how very evil Saddam was and that he most certainly deserved it, and on the other hand, having read about how he behaved in captivity, I saw a man that was religious, in a perverted way, a man of thought, education, who could be engaging. I saw a man hiding his fear of his own death, but facing it with dignity, not haughtily. I was appalled at the behavior of the executioners. Its true, Saddam, through his henchmen, did much worse to thousands of his own citizens. That behavior at the execution was not prudent. It will just inflame things more. To top it off, they executed him on a religious holy day of Saddam's sect when in their constitution that is outlawed. The execution was rushed. They did not, obviously, get ALL the cell phones. It was horribly botched. Its true, they needed to get him out of the way of a hopefully new Iraq. But the timing was all wrong. Its odd to feel at the same time, he deserved it, and much more, and have a kind of sympathy for a man who really had no clue what life ought to be like for everyone.
My neighbor's son has done one tour of duty in Iraq. His parents were just almost basket cases, worrying about his safety, and having to go on with their lives. He is their only child. He's been going to college and is a fine, thoughtful young man. I remember when he was born. I worry that they will send him back for another tour. I grieve for the mothers and fathers, etc., who face this kind of reality. This was a war that never should have been as it has been pursued. Yes, the world is better without Hussein and his evil, sadistic sons, but I can't help but think there could have been a better outcome than we have now. Old men wage war. Young men and women die.

Saddam's Execution
I Did not believe that Saddam should have been hung. I believe that they should have placed him in front of a firing squad, as he did to his people. Hanging is reserved for outlaws, not war criminals. But other than that "BURN IN HELL SADDAM"
