China Trigger for Key American Stock Market Indices Collapse? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Profit_Confidential

Michael Lombardi writes: Why do only a few in the media and no politicians I can find seem to care about the warning bells being issued by the Chinese economy?

First, early this year, we heard the Chinese economy is going to grow at an embarrassingly slow pace in 2013 compared to its historical average. Forget a 10% economic growth rate and think seven percent or lower!

Financial Markets Meltdown Warning Signals / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: DeepCaster_LLC

“Run for the Hills Now, I’m Doing It.”       Jim Rogers, CNBC.com (07/20/13)

When a Remarkably Successful Establishment (albeit a Rebel within) Investment Guru warns that He and We should “Run for The Hills” it is important to ask why?

Immediately leading up to, and for months after, the 2008-09 Financial Crisis, not only Independent Commentators but also MainStream Media commentators were Warning we were on the verge of Financial Collapse. And some quite reputable independent commentators still are issuing those Warnings.

Bernank’s Bluff and the Coming Stock Market Crash / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Graham_Summers

Yesterday’s move confirms what everyone suspected, that Ben Bernanke is more of a CNBC stock market cheerleader than a Fed Chairman or businessman. Is there really any other interpretation for his clear and obvious verbal intervention in the stock market? Can we really look at his actions and say that this is a man who legitimately knows what he is doing?

Can the Fed Cause a Stock Market Crash? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Money_Morning

Tony Daltorio writes: A recent article by Paul B. Farrell of MarketWatch said that there is a 98% risk of a stock market crash before the end of 2014.

He said in the article "bubbles are everywhere. . .ready to blow."

That's quite a statement. One key reason Farrell expects a crash? Federal Reserve policies.

Stock Market Flash Crash Still Probable / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Anthony_Cherniawski

SPX revisited the 50-day moving average this morning at 1624.06 and has since declined toward Short-term support and rally trendline at 1650.50. Once beneath these supports, we should see the SPX fall away pretty rapidly. The probability of a Flash Crash is very high, with a potential bottom date of Tuesday, July 9. Beyond that, there may only be a short but powerful bounce that will rollover into a deeper decline ending in the first week of August.

Stock Market Next Comes the Big Drop / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Graham_Summers

Today should be the peak of end of the quarter performance gaming.

Stocks have rallied hard for three days. The financial media has seen this as indicating the worst is over. But the fact of the matter is that most of this is performance gaming aided by various Fed officials issue verbal interventions yesterday.

Gold Price Crash, Panic Deepens on World Financial Markets / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Global_Research

Andre Damon writes: Global stocks plunged Thursday in the biggest one-day sell-off so far this year, after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the US central bank might consider paring back its cash infusions into the financial markets within the next six months.

The panic in stock and bond markets sparked by the remarks of Bernanke, who on Wednesday suggested the Fed might start winding down its $85 billion per month in asset purchases, was compounded by the release of data on Thursday showing that Chinese manufacturing activity hit its lowest level in nine months.

Batten Down the Tatches for a Perfect Stock Market Storm! / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Anthony_Cherniawski

Good Morning!

Yesterday was quite a day. I took a crew down to Wabash, IN to help “dig out” a friend who suffered a direct hit by a tornado. Fortunately, the city of Wabash has a wood recycling operation, so we only had to move the limbs and more than a few mature trees to the street for pickup. When we were done, the stack of logs and branches was nearly a block long by about 4 feet high!

Unsupported Bullish Investor Sentiment - Stock Market Set to Crash? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: InvestmentContrarian

Sasha Cekerevac writes: If one were to look at the current state of the stock market, because of the substantial run-up in prices, one would think that investor sentiment is being based on the bullish opinion that corporate earnings will continue to rise.

However, a look below the surface would reveal that corporate earnings are not growing anywhere near the levels necessary to sustain the current enthusiasm in investor sentiment.

Don't Ignore the Hindenburg Stock Market Crash Omen / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Money_Morning

David Zeiler writes: The Hindenburg Omen-a harbinger of stock market crashes-eerily appeared again last week...and the Dow Jones promptly dropped 205 points. But its appearance brought mostly scorn from the mainstream financial media.

Here are just a few of the headlines from the past week:

"Hindenburg Omen is Just Hot Air"

Stock Market Margin Buying Surpasses 2007 Danger Levels – Another Crash Coming? / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Money_Morning

Gary Gately writes: There's nothing like buying securities with money you don't have - or, more precisely, with borrowed money from your broker, with your investments as collateral.

It's called buying on margin, and it's soaring as the market continues its tear and speculative investors seek a piece of the action. As your stocks appreciate you can borrow even more. A market rally lets you expand your portfolio by piling on more debt.

A Summer Stock Market Crash Scenario / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Clif_Droke

Despite the recent weakness, the broad market has displayed a fair amount of resilience in the face of rising interest rates and falling commodity prices. The charts even leave us with some hope that there will be one more rally to new highs in the coming weeks. But a growing list of problems also suggests the market could be setting up for a repeat of the 1998 mini-crash later this summer.

There are several parallels between now and the spring and summer of 1998 which led to the July-October decline. The year 1998 was an exceptionally strong one for U.S. equities for the first half of the year; that year also witnessed a strengthening domestic economy. Like this year, however, 1998 saw trouble begin overseas with global weakness reflected by falling commodity prices.

How to Protect Your Stock Market Portfolio Profits From a Crash / Portfolio / Financial Crash

By: Money_Morning

Tim Melvin writes: Thanks to billions of dollars in quantitative easing from the U.S. Federal Reserve, fears over a looming stock market crash have been put on hold lately.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index is up 16% this year. The market's outstanding performance has shrugged off weak earnings reports, slowing growth in China, and continued weakness in Europe.

Stock Market Set Up for a Crash / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Anthony_Cherniawski

About 77% of all Broadening Wedges do not retest thw lower trendline. The rest will either test the trendline or move back inside the body of the formation briefly. That is why I suggested a retracement to 1645.00. A quick scan of the Fibonacci levels now suggest that a 38.2% retracement may not be out of the question.

Margin Debt and the Next Stock Market Crash / Stock-Markets / Financial Crash

By: Clif_Droke

The latest fear on Wall Street is that record levels of margin debt may end up toppling the stock market rally.

NYSE margin debt recently reached its highest level since 2007 before the last major stock market peak and credit crash. Stephen Suttmeier, technical research analyst at Bank of America, noted that margin debt, rose 28% in March from a year ago to $380 billion. That figure is slightly below the July 2007 peak of $381 billion, although analysts speculate that April's margin debt totals (which haven't yet been released) have already surpassed this mark.
