Casino and Bingo - A Brief Statistics

Casino and Bingo are two of the fast-growing iGaming sectors in Great Britain. Some of the interesting Gambling Commission industry statistics related to casino and bingo sectors including GGY (Gross Gaming Yield), dominant operators and so on are shown here.

Casino statistics

It is quite fascinating to see enthralling statistics related to casinos. The stats related to casinos undergo a lot of changes from time to time due to several factors such as laws related to licences and regulations, technology, security and so on.


Mr Mobi mobile casino which has been in the casino industry for the past few years has collected and compiled interesting data about the casino and bingo games. The casino has an impressive set of casino games along with some of the most played Roulette, Blackjack and other classic games to play on the go.

Number of casinos and the organizations

As of on 30th September 2015, there were around 145 casinos operating only in Great Britain. The two big operators are Rank Group and Genting UK and they both hold about 71% of the premises for the casino.

Gross Gaming Yield

Gross Gambling Yield or GGY is a figure indicating the income of the casino minus its payouts. It is nothing but the basic look what comes in and goes out of the casino. Though a few casino games and multiple variants of the same game exist, only some of them dominate the market. American Roulette had the highest contribution among the remaining games in Gross Gaming Yield.

  • Punto Banco - £186.18 million
  • Blackjack - £180.65 million
  • Electronic Gaming - £164.54 million
  • 3 Card Poker - £ 59.50 million
  • Other - £7.44 million
  • Dice - £2.78 million
  • Casino Stud Poker - £1.17 million

Surprisingly, blackjack had a decrease of £23 million when compared to the previous year and it had the largest GGY decrease. The approximate number of gaming machines in casinos were around 3,170 which is a 6.6% increase over the previous period.

GGY of casino gaming machine from non-remote casino sector was £956.87 million and GGY of machines from casinos made up to £206.67 million.

Bingo Statistics

Just like a casino, bingo is also one of the largest gambling sector dominated by two operators – Gala Leisure Limited and Mecca Bingo Limited. They both account for about 37.4% of the total premises. The total GGY from non-remote games from April 2016 to March 2017 was about £368.82 million.

Gaming Machines in Bingo Clubs

The approximate number of gaming machines in Great Britain bingo premises were 66,216 and it was a 5.5% increase when compared to the previous period.  The total GGY of gaming machines were £317.97 million and it was a 1.3% increase from the previous period.

The market share of the remote sector – 34%

The total amount of the contributions to good causes from The National Lottery - £1.5 billion
The total number of casinos in Great Britain – 146
The total amount of contributions to good causes from large society lotteries - £255.6 billion
The total number of arcades which are licensed in Great Britain – 1,750

A lot of changes happen in the casino and bingo sectors, as the industry progressively takes the creative approach to use the latest technology to engage players.
