Vestles Platform Offers Several Key Trading Tools

InvestorEducation / Learn to Trade Aug 08, 2018 - 09:17 PM GMT

By: Submissions

InvestorEducation The Vestle platform has a wide range of tools you can use to predict future price changes.  The state of the art charting system provides price action in several time frames ranging from monthly data to intra-day points.  In addition, Vestle supplies customers with several different technical analysis tools including momentum, sentiment and support and resistance.  The economic calendar is an advanced fundamental analysis tool that can be used to determine if new information is priced into the market. By using a combination of tools such as technical analysis and an economic calendar, you can create a trading strategy that is rooted in both fundamental and technical analysis.

Technical Analysis Tools

Technical analysis is the study of past price action to predict future price movements.  By analyzing where prices have been, you can formulate support and resistance levels, as well as momentum and sentiment. While some believe technical analysis is self-fulfilling, understanding what many market participants are thinking is critical to your success. Not only does technical analysis help you enter a trade, it also should form the basis of your risk management.

Support and Resistance

Support and resistance are levels that help you determine where prices are likely to stall.  Support is a level where demand exceeds supply, and prices are likely to bounce. Resistance is a level where prices are unable to advance. Support can be drawn with trend lines using the charts provided on the Vestle platform.  Support trend lines are generally upward sloping.  The same can be said for resistance levels. Trend lines that represent resistance levels are generally downward sloping.  In addition, you can derive support and resistance levels using a moving average which is supplied by the Vestle platform. Short-term moving averages such as the 10-day moving average will assist in supplying short-term support and resistance while long-term moving averages such as the 200-day moving average, is generally considered a line in the sand.

Momentum

Momentum helps you determine the rate at which prices are accelerating.  Momentum is important, and you also need to know when a market has plateaued. Vestle offers momentum indicators such as the MACD (moving average convergence divergence) index which provides trading signals that alert you to situations when momentum is accelerating and when it is decelerating.

Sentiment

Vestle also offers technical indicators that show extreme movement in sentiment. The relative strength index (RSI) is a momentum oscillator that generates an index that reveals a situation whereby a security is either overbought or oversold.   When prices have reached an extreme level, the RSI will print a reading above 70, alerting you that a market might be prepared to make a correction. The reverse is true when the RSI prints a reading of 30 and is considered oversold. Vestle also calculates different stochastic oscillators that measure momentum as well as extreme sentiment.

Economic Calendar

In addition to using technical analysis tools, you should follow an economic calendar which is also offered on the Vestle Platform. An economic calendar tells you when new information is available to market participants.  When market related news breaks, securities will change to reflect the new information. By using a combination of tools such as technical analysis and an economic calendar, you can create a trading strategy that is both fundamentally and technically based.
