How to Protect Your Site from Bots & Spam?

Companies / Cyber Crime Aug 21, 2019 - 04:49 PM GMT

Companies

To ensure your business effectiveness and build up a strong brand, it necessary to establish a smooth operation of your website with no downtimes and system failures. That’s why we strongly recommend you to think about your site protection against bots and spam. You can use a single module for this purpose. In this case, the data protection will occur automatically, with no involvement from your side. The module will define whether it is a bot or a real visitor who tries to access your website. Based on the data, the system will block all possible malicious bots, whether it is spam, parsing, vulnerability search, etc.

What Is Special about the Solution?
No matter what program you decide to use, it will first work as an email checker and will provide you with different levels of protection:

1. Detection of malicious bots - Good bots are determined based on User-Agent or PTR records. All others are thoroughly checked by the solution; thus, only full-fledged browsers that pass a quick and inconspicuous but complex test in the cloud are skipped.

2. White- and blacklists of bots - “White” bots are skipped without any verification, such as Googlebot, Bingbot, etc. are automatically added to the whitelist. On the other hand, the blacklist is constantly updated based on the analysis of recent customers data. What is more, you can always add a particular bot to the black- or whitelists yourself.

3. Analysis of bot activity - Over 10,000 customers from all over the world use services for their protection against spam and bots. Thus, new malicious bots are analyzed and detected every day.

Advantages of Locking Bots

  1. Server load reduction - The load of the server is reduced, which means that the site loading speed for real users increases greatly. This has a good effect on the behavioral factor, SEO ranking, and sales trends.
  2. Hacker protection - Hackers are looking for vulnerabilities and modules with bugs. The dedicated protection solution blocks the activity of this type at the initial stage and does not allow obtaining information for hacking.
  3. Parsing content - Protection programs block bots that steal your content and publish on their sites. Thus, you preserve the uniqueness of content and images on your site.
  4. Password protection - When trying to select passwords for the CMS admin panel or any other user passwords, the module detects attacks and blocks all attempts to hack passwords.

Spam Blocking

The solution also blocks more than 90% of spam bots that register accounts on your site, send spam via the feedback form, or post spam comments. Thus, your online resource is protected from all possible threats. On top of that, the module detects attempts of XSS attacks and SQL injections and automatically blocks them.

Why Website Protection Is So Important?

Recent studies show that 70% of online traffic is usually done by bots, and only 30% refer to real website visitors. At the same time, only 10% of the traffic goes from useful bots; everything else is associated with hacker scripts and completely unnecessary directories or search engines. Thus, by using a protection solution, you not only block unnecessary bots but also speed up the site loading for potential buyers and improve the behavioral factors on your platform. All this will certainly have a positive impact on the ranking of your site in search engines and increase the number of visitors and sales.
