Online Presence: What You Need to Know About What Others Know About You

Personal_Finance / Gambling Dec 04, 2019 - 09:34 AM GMT

Personal_Finance In the 21st century it is important to understand that there is a huge globalization of everything around us, meaning that our information is also available globally.

As a user of the world wide web, the internet can and should understand how your date of birth, your email and also your friends are available to anyone who types your username in an online search.

Nowadays, our online presence is really our online citizen card and many of us do not value the sensitivity of their data and often make that data publicly available without concern.

Not that it is unsafe to share your age, family moments or even your likes on the internet, because that is what it is for today, but you also need to understand the dangers it poses for you and those around you.

For example, we start from a very common situation: family lunch, many family members present and decides to remember the moment with a group photo and for the joy it transmits you need to share it with a social network of your choice.

Enter the app, choose the photo, enter a simple description such as: “The most important part of life: family!” And, since they are some people in the photo, decide to identify each one of them and share their current location.

Up to this point we agree that it is more than normal to share a family photo. Now let's assume you have 500 friends in your social network, and they have 500 more each. There are 500 times 500, which gives 250,000 people who can see your face and everyone in the photo, including the possibility to see their profile, because you identified them in the photo, and also with the possibility to know where they are currently. 250,000 people who know who you are with, your name, your location, and a lot of other information that you certainly didn't want to share so vaguely.

It is because of such vulgar and seemingly harmless situations that our privacy is increasingly threatened and somewhat lacking in protection.

But there are also solutions to problems on a regular basis, in this case regulators, both consumers and businesses, and they undertake not to use their data for profit or illegally shared with other organizations, but also so that we can enjoy the internet, whether it is to play online, visit casino or betting sites, or to share photos and videos or even just do some weather research.

There is no problem with visiting casino or sports betting sites, contrary to what many people think, they are licensed and legal houses that allow you to bet monetarily on sports results or not and are as vulgar as any social network.

Our online presence can and should be protected and for that we need to be willing to learn how to do so so that in the future we can be aware of how our data travels the world and also know how to ensure our privacy in a digital world, so global and visible.

Everything we do is visible to everyone unless we, aware and cyber-aware users of our data, take care to read terms and conditions and share confidential information such as usernames or passwords. A secure digital world is also a world of free expression and sharing of opinion and information.
