Invest in the Top Telecom in the "New China" Before the Herd Piles In / Companies / China Stocks
By: Money_Morning
G.S. Early writes:
How would you like to get in on the ground floor of the telecom market in a country I've dubbed the "New China"?
It's a country that boasts:
•6% annual GDP growth before, after and during and the global economic meltdown.
•The fourth largest population on the planet. It is also one of the youngest (median age is 28).
•A centuries-long social and economic connection to China and every strategic Southeast Asian economy.
•Foreign Direct Investment that has grown exponentially in the teeth of the global crisis.
•A bigger economy than the Netherlands or Turkey.
I'm talking about Indonesia.

Full Steam Ahead for China Railroad Stocks / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Frank_Holmes
China's economic engines of growth have begun to accelerate again, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the chart below. After approvals for new railroad projects spiked to a five-year high in the third quarter of 2010, the number of new plans slowed, then completely halted throughout 2011, decreasing 89 percent by value, says J.P. Morgan.

RENN, The Facebook of China / Companies / China Stocks
By: George_Maniere
Every weekend I go through a different sector and I pull up companies and then I go through their chart. Going through the technical analysis portion process usually takes the list down to 20 stocks or so. I will then take those 20 stocks and do the fundamental analysis on the companies. I look for market capitalization, revenue, growth, P/E and get a feeling if this company is something that interests me.

Chinese Internet Stocks Getting Crushed / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Trader_Mark
It looks in retrospect that RenRen (RENN) was the top of the "chinese internet/ social media" bubble, at least this time around. [May 2, 2011: RenRen IPO Appetite Seen as Huge, but Red Flags Abound] [Apr 19, 2011: RenRen Set to IPO May 4th] That broken IPO has been a disaster, as we warned. (IPO Priced at $14, first day mark at $24!) At this pace it may actually go low enough where I'd be interested!

What China's Rising Wages Mean for Investors / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Money_Morning
Jason Simpkins writes:
There's a sea change underway in China's economy - one that's evident in soaring prices, shrinking trade surpluses, and higher property values. And it's being driven by higher wages for workers that for decades have been grossly underpaid.
From the country's fast-growing urban centers to its frontier countryside, wages are rising rapidly across China.

China Mobile Should Rake in 4G Cell Phone Profits / Companies / China Stocks
By: Tony_Sagami
The term “Time Division-Long Term Evolution” may sound like something out of Star Wars or The Matrix, but it is just a nerdy name for a new technology that is going to dramatically change wireless technology.
Time Division-Long Term Evolution, or TD-LTE, is the technological name for the next generation of wireless transmission protocol. The simple name that you’re going to hear a LOT about is 4G or fourth generation.

China Says No More Cars, Down Goes the Auto Industry During 2011 / Companies / China Stocks
By: Dian_L_Chu
While the world is still unwrapping the surprise Christmas gift from China in the form of a interest rate hike of 25 basis points, this other piece of news with ample implication to the auto industry seems to have gone largely under the radar--The City of Beijing will limit the number of new license plates issued in 2011 to 240,000 to help control traffic congestion. Xinhua reported that car buyers in Beijing will have to draw lots before obtaining a vehicle license plate.

Record fundraising activity in the market for initial public offerings (IPOs) is pushing valuations for Chinese companies to sky-high levels, raising concerns about a possible bubble.

Smoking Hot China IPOs / Companies / China Stocks
By: Tony_Sagami
What do you end up with when you combine “China” and the “internet?” You get a smoking-hot IPO. For example, Chinese search engine Baidu.com (BIDU), the Google of China, is up by 160% so far this year.
A total of 35 Chinese companies have gone public in the United States this year, raising $2.2 billion and creating a windfall of gigantic profits for many investors.

Chinese Stocks, Is Red China Rolling Over? / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Peter_Navarro
I have begun to cash out of many of my positions and take profits in anticipation of a flat to down US market until the end of December. Both tax selling and the taking of profits coupled with uncertain outlooks in communist China and in the PIGG portion of Europe suggest less upside reward than an undeniably strong technical market trend might suggest at this point. Better to be early than late is my motto.

ETF's To Ride China's Economic Growth Boom / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Tony_Sagami
The political and financial leaders from the world’s 20 largest economies, or Group of 20, gathered in Seoul, Korea last week to solve all the world’s economic problems.
Well, at least they think they can but that is the foolish arrogance of all politicians who think that government policy is more effective than free markets. Not much happens at these G-20 meetings, and this one was no different. There was a lot of finger pointing and tough talking, however, and most of it was directed at China from our White House.

China’s Economy Rocks! Ignore the Naysayers / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Tony_Sagami
If you read the business news or watch CNBC, you’ve been bombarded with a steady stream of experts warning you about China. Warning you about the Chinese stock market, warning you about the Chinese real estate bubble, warning you about the Chinese economy.
The majority of those China worrywarts have been crying “wolf” for a long, long time. Like Samuel Clemens said, “the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated” and that is certainly true of the Chinese economy.

Stocks With China Economic Growth Connections / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Mike_Paulenoff
China's growth prospects have brightened, as we look at in detail in our video this week, and here are charts of a number of stocks which may benefit from China's move.
One is United States Steel Corp. (X), which should benefit from China procurement of steel and heavy building materials. U.S. Steel has a pretty nice pattern, somewhat similar to the Shanghai Composite Index. U.S. Steel had an initial up move, got hung up at 50-51, pulled back, and now looks like it is ready to go again, holding its shorter-term moving averages and looking like it could be in a position to attack again the 200-day moving average, which isn’t falling, by the way, but rather rising.

Why China’s Economy Will Exceed Expectations in the Second Half of 2010 / Stock-Markets / China Stocks
By: Money_Morning
Larry D. Spears writes: The rapid growth China's economy experienced in the first half of the year was a blessing and a curse. It helped propel the world out of a disastrous recession, but it forced policymakers into action to prevent overheating - which scared off many investors.
But the fact is that while most of the world was struggling to keep the engine of economic recovery from sputtering to a halt, China spent the first half of 2010 with its foot on the brake. And now that the Red Dragon has reigned in growth, the second half of 2010 will likely look very different from the first.

My near- and intermediate-term work in the ProShares UltraShort FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Stock Index (NYSE: FXP) argues that this week’s low at 8.21, which incidentally created a big positive momentum divergence compared with the Sep 17 low at 8.44, ended the downleg off of the Oct 2 high at 10.69. If my work is correct, then today’s up-gap open, followed by strong continuation, inaugurated a powerful new recovery rally period that projects initially towards a test of the prior rally peak at 9.05. China Digital, Tuning in on Future Growth / Companies / China Stocks

It's no secret that 2008 was an abysmal year on Wall Street—the worst, in fact, since 1931. The Dow lost 33.8% of its value, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq fell 38.5% and 40.5%, respectively.
On the other side of the globe the markets fared even worse. The Chinese economy, while still growing rapidly, has hit a major speed bump. After a red-hot 2007 that saw China's benchmark CSI 300, a cap-weighted index tracking 300 A-share stocks listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges, gain over 125%, Chinese stocks cooled considerably in 2008. By: Michael_K_Dawson
Many thought that Warren Buffet had lost his touch when he continued buying old boring companies in the late nineties when clearly technology stocks were the key to riches. Last week, news surfaced that he was buying into another industry that doesn't have much appeal to modern investors. The smirks have long since faded. Now Buffet creates a buzz.
According to a filing with regulators, Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. had amassed a 10.9% stake, worth more than $3 billion, in railroad operator Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. A Berkshire Hathaway spokeswoman also confirmed to Reuters that the company was investing nearly $1.4bn in two other unnamed railroad groups as well. Once again Buffet is doing what no one does better – investing in long term growth opportunities.
