How to Start A Junk Car Business / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Steve_Barker

Having a less perfect car in your backyard is never an appealing sight. Always find the right company to buy the damaged car.

In particular, you pay customers to get their damaged cars instead of getting paid. That’s why grit and top business knowledge must apply in this car venture.

How to Make Money Efficiently in Your Spare Time / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Submissions

Most of us could do with just a little more money in order to feel comfortable and do all the things that we want to do. This assumes that you already have at least one wage coming in to your household and are able to pay your bills and put food on the table, but could do with just a little bit extra. If You Want to Be Rich, Change Your Money Mindset / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Jared_Dillian

I am the child of two public servants.

Growing up, I thought making $80,000 a year was a big deal. Sure, there were doctors and lawyers in town. And I knew they were wealthier—but I couldn’t put an exact number on it.

I didn’t know what a “trader” did either. I hadn’t even heard of the term, let alone “portfolio manager,” “investment banker,” or even “management consultant.” Anyone who said they were going to get into business was weird.

What You Need Instead of Income / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Investment_U

Alexander Green writes: The conventional wisdom is that everyone needs income .

If you’re like most Americans, you have mortgage payments, car payments, insurance payments, utility payments, credit card payments and perhaps even student loan payments.

You wouldn’t survive long in our modern world without income. At least, that’s what most people believe.

5 Women Who Made Me Rich and What They Can Teach You / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Don_Miller

My grandmother refused to share the heart-wrenching details until I was in the Marine Corps. I’d heard bits and pieces about my ne’er-do-well father but didn’t fully grasp the devastation he’d left behind until Grandmother spilled the story with tears in her eyes:

Your father never worked. After you were born he stole all the money in the house, vanished, and was never seen again. Fortunately your mother had gone back to work earning $8 per week.

However, one of the worst parts was: the store repossessed your baby carriage because your father stole the money your mother had saved to pay it off.

Living on Two Paychecks or on Too Many Expectations? / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Don_Miller

A good friend once asked me, "How come in the 1950s, you could support a family on a single paycheck, but now my wife and I both have to work to make ends meet?" I'd heard this question many times before. People give countless answers, from the Fed's inflationary policies to the lack of decent-paying manufacturing jobs. Usually, the explanations suggest macroeconomic shifts and major policy changes. And sure, those explanations are a part of it, but folks rarely mention increased expenses and heightened expectations.

A Million Dollars Isn’t What It Used to Be / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Don_Miller

We all share a common goal: to grow our nest eggs and make sure they last over the long haul. Our generation was taught to live off the interest and never touch the principal, but interest rates for CDs and Treasuries no longer allow for that. Frankly, they don’t even keep up with inflation, so we have to invest our money elsewhere if we want it to last.

How to Marry a Millionaire… And Not Die a Pauper / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Don_Miller

A recent article penned by Jeff Sommer for The New York Times noted that in 1953, when How to Marry a Millionaire – one of Marilyn Monroe's more endearing comedic performances – debuted, $1 million was worth much more than it is now. It was the equivalent of $8.7 million in today's dollars.

Much like the old gray mare who is past her prime, a million dollars sure ain't what it used to be. In 1953, a family with a net worth of $1 million easily resided in the top 1% of all US households; now they're just in the top 10%.

The Most Amazing Business and Investment Story of Our Time / InvestorEducation / Money Making

By: Investment_U

Alexander Green writes: If your son dropped out of college before getting a degree and without taking a single business class, joined a far-left commune dedicated to progressive ideals, and made no secret of his heartfelt belief that business is all about greed, selfishness and exploitation, what would you say the odds are that he would found and run a Fortune 500 company with $12 billion in annual sales and gross yearly profit of more than $4 billion?

Now that we have a better understanding of the Law of Attraction, it is no surprise why so many people struggle with regards to money. The Root Cause Of Unemployment - Part 1: Destroying the Wage Fund / Economics / Money Making

By: Professor_Emeritus

A REVISIONIST THEORY AND HISTORY OF MONEY

Introduction
Economists have failed to find the root cause of unemployment. Keynesians have looked for it in the paucity of government debt. Friedmanites have tried to blame it on the inadequacy of central bank credit. Both orthodoxies were promoted, one after another, as state religion in the United States, with appalling results: destabilizing foreign exchanges, interest rates, prices; wiping out nine-tenth of the purchasing power of the dollar; even more of the value of bonds; not to mention the triggering of an avalanche of debt.

The Austrian school maintains that unemployment is the result of the high-wage policies of governments such as minimum-wage legislation and granting monopoly power to trade unions. However, this policy is more the effect than the cause. It prices less productive labor out of the market. We are looking for causes that hits the high-productivity end of the spectrum as well.

YouTube to Share Revenue with Content Providers - Make Money from your Home Movies / Personal_Finance / Money Making

By: Shahla_Walayat

In a video interview posted on the Youtube site, the CEO Chad Hurley, declares intentions of sharing advertising revenues with content providers. "In terms of paying users revenue against content they're uploading, we're definitely going to move in that direction," said Chad Hurley.

The intention is to continue to build and maintain the user base before the switch to an advertiser driven service - "We didn't want to build a system that was motivated by monetary reward. When you start giving money to people from Day One ... the people you do attract will just switch to the next provider that's paying more," he said. "We feel we're at the scale now that we'll be able to do that and still have a true community around video." He said.
