It’s Not Only Palladium That You Better Listen To / Commodities / Palladium

By: P_Radomski_CFA

Whenever one hears the words precious metals, gold and silver spring to mind. But this world is much richer, and precious metals don’t end with the yellow or white metal. The less well known cousins, platinum and palladium, can and do send valuable signals too. Before we examine silver, let’s take a look at something interesting in palladium.

The interesting detail is palladium’s weakness. This precious metal was the one that soared most profoundly in the past few years and while it recovered some of its 2020 declines recently, it appears to be back in the bearish mode as its unable to keep gained ground, even despite the move higher in the general stock market.

PALLADIUM - THIS Is What a Run on the Bank for Precious Metals Looks Like… / Commodities / Palladium

By: MoneyMetals

The explosive price action seen in palladium recently is indicative of a physical shortage.

Put simply, available inventories are failing to keep up with demand (largely from the automotive industry).

According to Refnitiv GFMS, the palladium market will be under-supplied by 883,000 ounces this year.

Stresses on the physical market are showing up in spiking lease rates, illiquidity, widening bid/ask spreads, and disconnections between quoted spot prices and actual physical prices. Most importantly, the deficit in palladium supply is manifesting in the form of rising prices.

Why Palladium Is on a Tear / Commodities / Palladium

By: MoneyMetals

Physical palladium and rhodium markets are buzzing. Reported prices for both metals leapt higher in recent days.

The story behind palladium’s move is that a physical shortage has developed in London. Traders sold metal they didn’t physically possess. Now they are being asked to deliver the bars and they are scrambling to secure the metal needed, bidding prices higher.

It looks like bullion bankers selling paper metal are finally getting called for selling way more than they can actually deliver!

People have complained about this practice in precious metals markets for decades.

Palladium Surges above $2,400. Is It Sustainable? / Commodities / Palladium

By: Arkadiusz_Sieron

A new day, a new record in palladium! Is there any stopping it from reaching another high? What’s next in store for the white metal?

If you thought gold had a good year, you were wrong. OK, maybe not wrong, but palladium enjoyed larger gains. Just look at the chart below, which shows the price of palladium. As you can see on the chart below, this metal gained almost 50 percent in 2019, rising from $1,270 to $1,900!

And if you thought gold started 2020 well, you were also wrong. OK, maybe not wrong, but palladium was the real star (although not as great a star as rhodium which has gone really supersonic recently). Let’s look at the chart below once again – the white metal skyrocketed from $1,900 to almost $2,500 in January!

Palladium Collapses After Double-Top From Early July 2019 / Commodities / Palladium

By: Chris_Vermeulen

It was almost like Palladium traders followed our research to the letter when the trend reversed on July 11, 2019.  Our research team issued a report indicating a Double-Top pattern was setting up in Palladium on July 3, 2019.  At that time, our proprietary cycle indicators and our proprietary Fibonacci price modeling systems suggested a large downside price swing was highly likely.

Palladium Sets Up Another Double Top Pattern / Commodities / Palladium

By: Chris_Vermeulen

Is this Double-Top setup in Palladium another warning of a potential downside price move?  Back in April 2018, we issued a Double-Top pattern warning in Palladium which preceded a downside price move of nearly 28%.  We believe this new Double-Top pattern may prompt a downside price move of nearly 20% – targeting the $1240 level.

Palladium, Darling of the PGEs, Shifting into High Gear / Commodities / Palladium

By: Richard_Mills

The platinum group elements (PGEs) consist of six metallic elements found in the Periodic Table: iridium (Ir), osmium (Os), palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt), rhodium (Rh) and ruthenium (Ru). Platinum and palladium are the most well-known of the PGEs due to their industrial applications in diesel and gasoline engines. The market for palladium has become especially interesting of late, with the price of the silvery-white metal gaining 18% in 2018, an otherwise down year for metals. Scaling an uncharted $1,600 per ounce in March, palladium is up 70% from a year ago.

We’ll get into the reasons for that in this article, and much more, as we dig deep into the world of PGEs.

Characteristics

PGEs share similar physical and chemical properties, and they usually occur together in the same orebodies. The similarities include a resistance to corrosion, high melting points, and catalytic qualities, meaning they speed up chemical reactions without themselves being chemically altered.

Palladium, PALL/Gold Ratio, SPX and the Gold Sector / Commodities / Palladium

By: Gary_Tanashian

Okay, now I am getting geeked out. One of the most fun and rare times in what I do is when something big happens that I feel in my gut means something, but about which I am not able to come forth with a ready explanation of the meaning (without sounding like a know-it-all blowhard). It’s time to put the thinking cap on and to reference my wealth of experience (that’s another way of saying I am old) and try to figure out meanings going forward.

Reference the earlier post showing the impulsive drop in palladium and gold’s big bounce in relation.

Here is a chart of palladium at today’s close. Another down day and it will have put in the 20% drop that will get the pundits calling ‘bear market’. The volume spike is a kick-off, not a capitulation (obviously, since it only dropped two days ago). In the short-term it’s sure to bounce up and down, but it looks like an impulse just hit.

Palladium Blowup Could Expose Scam of Gold & Silver Futures / Commodities / Palladium

By: MoneyMetals

Welcome to this week’s Market Wrap Podcast, I’m Mike Gleason.

Coming up we’ll hear a tremendous interview with Craig Hemke of the TF Metals Report. Craig weighs in again and offers a concise and clear explanation on what’s been happening in the broken and rigged silver futures markets. And also tells us why he sees 2019 being a similar setup to what we saw in gold and silver back in 2010 and 2011 when the metals went on an historic run. Don’t miss a fantastic interview with Craig Hemke, coming up after this week’s market update.

Markets got roiled this week on some downbeat economic reports and a surge in the U.S. dollar.

The Dollar Index broke out to a 21-month high on Thursday after the European Central Bank came out swinging with more stimulus measures. The ECB indicated it intends to leave ultra-low interest rates in place at least through early 2020. That coupled with bleak new forecasts for European economic growth helped drag down the euro and give life to the dollar on foreign exchange markets.

Palladium Shortages Expose Broken Futures Markets for Precious Metals / Commodities / Palladium

By: MoneyMetals

Craig Hemke of the TF Metals Report joins me for a fascinating conversation you will not want to miss. Craig tells me why we all need to pay attention to the white-hot palladium market right now and discusses the massive physical supply shortages there that have a chance to actually break the trading exchanges. He also suggests 2019 is poised to be the best year for gold and silver in nearly a decade. So make sure you stick around for my interview with Craig Hemke, coming up after this week’s market update.

Well, it’s been a wild few days in the markets for stocks, commodities, and precious metals....

In spite of the trading week being shortened by a national day of mourning for former President George H.W. Bush, the S&P 500 experienced one of its widest weekly trading ranges of the year. Prices swung 5% from high to low, with most of that being recorded on the downside. The stock market did manage to avert a major technical breakdown Thursday, closing well above its low point.

Palladium Market Panic Buying - What Comes Next? / Commodities / Palladium

By: MoneyMetals

This week, a white metal reached a rare feat. Palladium has traded at a higher cost per ounce than gold.

Last month, the palladium market pushed through all remaining technical barriers by posting a new all-time high. A chronic supply deficit now threatens to launch palladium prices into a super spike.

A true shortage of physical metal may be at hand. The primary source of demand is automakers who require palladium for catalytic converters. Supply, meanwhile, comes primarily (more than 80%) from just two unreliable countries: Russia and South Africa.

The Least Known and Best Performing Precious Metal / Commodities / Palladium

By: MoneyMetals

Gold and silver have risen substantially off the price bottom put in just 2-½ years ago, but the gains have yet to attract much notice. Gold has gained roughly 28% and silver is up 20%.

Meanwhile, another metal has more than doubled since bottoming. This performance should have been more than enough to catch the attention of metals investors, if only they were watching. The metal is palladium and, for those who haven’t paid much attention, it is time for a brief update.

Palladium Bullion Surges 17% In 9 Days On Russian Supply Concerns / Commodities / Palladium

By: GoldCore

Palladium bullion has surged a massive 17% in just nine trading days. From $895/oz on Friday April 6th to over $1,052/oz today (April 19th). The price surge is due to palladium being due a bounce after falling in the first quarter and now due to Russian supply concerns.

In a volatile month, precious metals and commodities have been the clear winners so far, with palladium having the greatest gains of all – up 10.7% in April (see table below).

By: Chris_Vermeulen

Are you prepared for the next big move in the metals markets?  Would you like to know what to expect in the immediate future that could save you thousands of dollars?  Then pay attention to this message as we share something most traders are overlooking right now.

Our research team at Technical Traders Ltd. have spent years developing our skills and financial modeling systems.  Right now, many traders are seeing the big upward price swings in the metals as a sign that prices will continue higher.  Well, in the long run, they are correct. But right now we believe the metals will roll over and trend lower for the next few weeks setting up for the next leg higher.

Is It Worth Investing in Palladium? / Commodities / Palladium

By: Arkadiusz_Sieron

Palladium is another element with great importance to the modern economy, but it’s often overshadowed by the other more famous and expensive precious metals. As the chart below shows, palladium has been generally cheaper than platinum – its more expensive substitute in industrial use and jewelry.

Bullish Palladium Supporting Commodities / Commodities / Palladium

The world is hooked on ‘Palladium’ because of its uses as an industrial metal and catalyst, the consumers are mainly automobile producers as it’s widely used in gasoline-based engine cars to curb harmful emissions from vehicles. Palladium surged +34% this year on expectations that supply will lag demand for a sixth straight year, beating the rest of commodities, combined with last year gains it results in an impressive 95% rally.
