Nokia and Ericsson Are Making a Huge Comeback—Buy Them Before Most Investors Realize This / Companies / Mobile Technology

By: Stephen_McBride

In 2017, American officials discovered that ZTE was selling phones to US enemies like North Korea.

The US government told ZTE to stop. It refused. So lawmakers banned ZTE from doing any business in America.

ZTE had been manufacturing roughly 25% of its phone parts in the US. So the ban crippled its business overnight.

ZTE’s shares plunged 55% in two weeks, and the stock has never recovered:

This Stock Will Drive America’s 5G Buildout / Companies / Mobile Technology

By: Stephen_McBride

Who sells the basics? That’s the first question I answer when evaluating an investment trend.

In markets, those who sell the basics get rich.

James Marshall was the first guy to pull a gold nugget out of the mud during the 1848 gold rush. James literally struck gold. And yet, he left California broke.

Time to Start Charging Your iPhone and Samsung Galaxy Phones Wirelessly / Personal_Finance / Mobile Technology

By: HGR

Here's a review of a relatively low cost phone charger by HBorna bought from Amazon, to see how convenient wireless charging is compared to regular cable charging which we all know is prone to failure of both the cable and the phones charging port. This is the HBorna Wireless Charger, that works for iPhone XS/XR/X/8/8 Plus, Ultra-Slim and Samsung Galaxy Note 9/ S9/S8/S7/S7 Edge/Note 8/5 series of phones, and probably for others that have wireless charging capability, the HBorna currently costs £18.99 from Amazon (Direct amazon page link).

How to Add Zoom to SmartPhone Cameras - MUIO Telescope 12X55mm Review / Personal_Finance / Mobile Technology

By: HGR

The cameras in today's smartphone's such as the Samsung Galaxy S7,S8 and S9 are better than today's compact cameras costing in the region of £200. For instance better slow motion and higher resolution 4K footage when the compacts are still carrying HD specs. So why do most amateur photographers and film makers still rather prefer a cheaper lower quality compact camera than a smartphone? Well its the lack of zoom on smartphone's, so here after much searching on Amazon I settled on the 12X50mm telescope by MUI that cost £30 at the time of review (Amazon UK £30 https://amzn.to/2QErj2y).

The Changing Face of Payments: Online & Mobile Payments / Personal_Finance / Mobile Technology

By: Steve_Marks

Back in the day, it used to be the case that cash was the only mainstream way to pay for pretty much every transaction. When cheques and bank cards became popular, they were considered to be cutting-edge payment forms that were about to change the world. Now, both of these payment methods are becoming increasingly obsolete. This is evident in the UK as more people use online payment and baking methods. One popular example of this is e-tailer payment methods. Popular examples of these include Amazon’s Amazon Pay and Apple’s Apple Pay. Originally envisioned as an extension of both Apple and Amazon, both payment methods can now be used elsewhere. Meaning that traditional payment methods like debit and credit cards are being used less and less. Another reason for this is the growth of online shopping. In the UK it is estimated that over 70% of households use online shopping. This follows the trend of increased internet usage.

T-Mobile CEO: "Sprint couldn't give away service...their network is completely dead" / Companies / Mobile Technology

By: Mike_Shedlock

John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile, spoke with Bloomberg Television's Stephanie Ruhle today about the company's latest "uncarrier" move, business strategy and recent growth.

On Sprint making a big push into business and competition with T-Mobile, Legere said: "Sprint could give away service in the business or the consumer side because their network is completely dead and everybody knows it. What Sprint announced recently was an age-old bundle service per seat where you try to aggregate everything that happens in the office place. We're not fooling around with that. This is wireless services and we are focusing straight in there, and I have very little concern about Sprint."

How BlackBerry Could Reemerge as a Viable Company / Companies / Mobile Technology

By: Profit_Confidential

George Leong writes: The news broke out right after I wrote the first draft of this commentary on BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ/BBRY): a surprise takeover bid emerged from Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. (TSX/FFH) offering $9.00 per share, or $4.7 billion, for the struggling smartphone maker.

It appears to be the correct timing for BlackBerry. (See “Research In Motion Had Better Be Right.”) And for BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Gerhard Heins, he could get a $20.0-million send-off for selling the company.

Repairable Smartphone's and Tek Devices Bring Huge Losses to Manufacturers / Companies / Mobile Technology

By: Pravda

Electronic devices are becoming increasingly less repairable. The paradigm of disposable products and planned obsolescence of long-term devices is profitable for producers and therefore is widely applied. Even Apple does not shy away from abusing its fans, as it did with the iPods, whose batteries died immediately after the expiration of the warranty period.

How to Really Make a Fortune on the "Mobile Wave" / Companies / Mobile Technology

By: Money_Morning

Michael A. Robinson writes: If you've been riding along with me for any length of time, you know I get really revved up whenever I talk about the "Mobile Wave" in technology.

The truth is, I can't help it: I look at the forecasts, calculate all the money that can be made, and end up feeling as jazzed as can be about the windfall profits we can reap from this transformational trend.
