Australian Stock Market Index ASX200 Technical Analysis  / Stock-Markets / Austrailia

By: Austin_Galt

I have been calling for new rally highs in the Australian stock index, the ASX200, and nothing has changed my view on that. The only thing that has changed is my confidence - it has increased. Let’s find out why beginning with the weekly chart.

2015 – Is the Aussie Dollar Going Down ? / Currencies / Austrailia

By: Submissions

Badre Bouarich writes: At a time where oil prices are hitting the ground driven by a high supply - low demand environment, several market actors are getting to expect a depreciation of the so called commodity currencies. As defined by the financial dictionary ( ) and studied by IMF Senior Economists ( ), commodity currencies are currencies whose exchange rate is highly correlated to the price of a commodity.

AUD/USD Approaches Solid Support / Currencies / Austrailia

By: Nadia_Simmons

The Reserve Bank of Australia left its benchmark interest rate at a record-low of 2.50%, which pushed the Australian dollar higher against the greenback. As a result, AUD/USD bounced off yesterday’s fresh 2014 low, but will we see further rally?

In our opinion, the following forex trading positions are justified - summary:

AUD/USD - Double Bottom / Currencies / Austrailia

By: Nadia_Simmons

Earlier today, official data showed that retail sales in Australia increased by 1.2% in September, beating expectations for a 0.4% rise. As a result, AUD/USD bounced off a one-month low and came back above the short-term support. Will we see a post-double bottom rally?

In our opinion, the following forex trading positions are justified - summary:

ASX200 Stocks Index False Break Low? / Stock-Markets / Austrailia

By: Austin_Galt

I don't normally put out a report so soon after an in-depth report as was put out just last weekend but some important price action has taken place that I feel warrants a quick follow up. That is the potential for a false break low setup. Let's have a look.

How to Collect 4.4% Dividends in the Safest Country on Earth / Stock-Markets / Austrailia

By: DailyWealth

Australia could be near-debt-free by the end the decade.

It's nearly impossible to believe in our debt-fueled world. But it's true.

Last week, Bloomberg reported that Australia's national debt could "decline to just over 5% of GDP."

By: Mike_Shedlock

Australia's housing bubble is back in full swing. Prices rose almost 11 percent over the past year to record levels in absolute terms and near-record levels as a share of household income.  Prices in Sydney rose 15 percent.

Household debt as a percent of income surpassed the previous record.

Investing in Australian Stocks for Faster, Asset-Backed Growth / Companies / Austrailia

By: Money_Morning

Martin Hutchinson writes: I like Australia's stock market right now. I think it provides you with a ton of upside potential.

Virtually every analyst on Wall Street disagrees, of course. They hate Australia. But they didn't like Chile, either, where we're up 46%. And they weren't crazy about Indonesia - another market that's making us good money.

What The Rising Australian Stock Market Could Mean For The AUD/USD / Stock-Markets / Austrailia

By: ForexPros

Decided to look at the Australian stock market today: there's a pretty strong impulsive rally that should move even higher, as we need five waves from early April low. Are you wondering how this will impact the AUDUSD? We suspect that if investors will keep their money in shares; which is expected based on the price action, then there will be no demand for cash (AUD) which may keep the AUD/USD below resistance.

Australia Stocks Bear Market Forecast 2013 / Stock-Markets / Austrailia

By: readtheticker

Australia has been called the lucky country, its big and beautiful and unfortunately exposed to massive downside risk.

Applying the Elliot wave to price charts is an art with a little science. However in the case of the Australian All Ordinaries Index (AORD) the Elliot Wave 5 count is very easy. A technical Elliot Wave point is that a 5 wave count marks the end of the rally, yet you can have multiple 5 wave counts in a wave that end together. When you get multiple 5th waves peaking together it is an 'OMG' moment ('oh my god') as it resembles increased downside risk to follow.

Why Now Is the Time to Add Australia to Your Stocks Portfolio / Companies / Austrailia

By: Money_Morning

Martin Hutchinson writes: There weren't many developed countries that managed to dodge the worst of the financial crisis, but Australia was one of them.

With strong ties to over six billion emerging market customers yearning to adopt a more Western lifestyle, "The Land Down Under" has been left relatively unscathed.

Investing in Austrailia, the “Other” Lucky Country / Companies / Austrailia

By: Investment_U

Carl Delfeld writes: It’s hard not to be envious of Australians.

I used to travel “down under” every three months to pitch U.S. stocks to Australian banks, mutual funds and insurance companies. After a week in vibrant Sydney and historical Melbourne, it was always tough to get on the plane and head home.

Australia Running Out of Luck, Economy Leveraged to Slowing China / Economics / Austrailia

By: John_Mauldin

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWhile it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter "down under." Today we turn our attention to Australia. In Endgame, Jonathan Tepper and I devoted a full chapter to talking about the problems we saw looming in Australia, and for that we have taken some heat! What's not to like about the Land of Oz? In our view, it might be the bubbles that are building. I asked Jonathan to update us on Australia, and in today's Outside the Box he gives us an in-depth look. Let me quote from a point near the end, in case you might decide to look just at the summary:

Australia's War Waging Strategy Despite Lack of Threats and Enemies / Politics / Austrailia

By: STRATFOR

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAustralia is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, ranked in the top 10 in gross domestic product per capita. It is one of the most isolated major countries in the world; it occupies an entire united continent, is difficult to invade and rarely is threatened. Normally, we would not expect a relatively well-off and isolated country to have been involved in many wars. This has not been the case for Australia and, more interesting, it has persistently not been the case, even under a variety of governments. Ideology does not explain the phenomenon in this instance.

Australia deprives tobacco giants of their brands / Politics / Austrailia

By: Pravda

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAustralia is introducing a single design model for cigarette packs of all the brands sold in the country. The respective law has been adopted by the country's parliament, and after approval by the Governor-General it may come into force. Tobacco corporations have already sent their representatives to courts, and a number of countries are observing the attempt to null the cigarette brands.

Analyzing the Australian Dollar, Up, Down, and Under  / Currencies / Austrailia

By: Gary_Dorsch

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWith the Sword of Damocles hanging over the Euro currency by a thread, many speculators in the foreign exchange markets are flocking to the currency Down Under – the Australian dollar, attracted to its free wheeling and dealing, and its heightened volatility. The Aussie dollar offers much higher interest rates than other Asian currencies, such as the Hong Kong dollar and Japanese yen, whose exchange rates are essentially fixed by their governments though daily market intervention, making the Aussie a favorite target for carry traders.

A Good Looking Economy is Not Always a Good Economy / Economics / Austrailia

By: Gerard_Jackson

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIt is said that many look enviously upon the Australian economy's success in not only weathering the global financial crisis but to continue to prosper. Of course, there is no gainsaying the role that the resources sector played in providing the country with a vital economic buffer. But is everything as rosy as many seem to think, including some of our Treasury boffins?

Australia Heading for Economic Crunch as Families Face Financial Collapse / Economics / Austrailia

By: Mike_Shedlock

Nonetheless, Australia faces an economic crunch as family finances collapse under the burden of record debts, rising interest rates and utility bills.
