Sheffield City Region Mayoral Election Results Forecast (South Yorkshire) / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

On May 3rd in addition to the local city council elections, the larger Sheffield city region (Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Rotherham and apparently including large chunks of Derbyshire) will also hold an election for South Yorkshires first Mayor (sorry people who live in Derbyshire your now part of South Yorkshire). The candidates will likely be unknown to most voters, and all that voters can really go is where they are from, live and work. And what they represent in terms of party politics.

UK Local Elections Forecast 2018 - Trees vs Labour Sheffield City Council / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

The local elections will be held in less than 1 weeks time on Thursday 3rd of May 2018 when 1/3rd of Sheffield's city council seats are up for election, that's 28 out of a total of 84 seats. The current make up of the council has the Labour party on 56 seats resulting in an commanding majority of 28. Which has effectively allowed the Labour council free reign to adopt whatever policy they chose fit regardless of electoral consequences, and when criticised for some of their 'crackpot' actions such as signing a contract with a Spanish owned contractor that includes a target to to fell HALF of Sheffield's street trees at a time of climate change catastrophe, Labour councilors have tended to respond by referring to their strong electoral mandate.

Sheffield Ruling Labour Party Could Lose 10 Council Seats at May Local Elections / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

A growing peaceful street revolution had been under way against Sheffield city councils ruling Labour regime in the countdown to the May 2018 Local elections in response to the rampant felling of thousands of street trees where there exists a contractual target to fell as many as half of Sheffield's Street trees during the lifetime of the PFI contract with Amey.

Green Party Could Control Sheffield City Council Balance of Power Local Election 2018 / Local / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

The Green party with 4 Sheffield Council seats could see their numbers rise to 5 tonight at the Nether Edge by election that could set the scene for a shock Labour loss of control of the city council at the May 2018 local elections, by handing the Green's the balance of power so that a minority Labour could continue in power.

The key driver in the surge in the Green vote is Sheffield City Council's £2 billion PFI contract with Spanish owned firm Amey, effectively outsourcing local democracy to a multinational that over the past 2 years has gone out of its way to anger and outrage Sheffield's residents most notably in its wholesale felling of thousands of Sheffield's biggest and most beautiful trees, likely for profit such as for use as bio fuel as the following video illustrates.

Nether Edge & Sharrow By-Election, Will Labour Lose Safe Council Seat, Sheffield? / Local / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

The Sheffield city council by election is to be held in the safe Labour council seat of Nether Edge & Sharrow tomorrow Thursday 22nd of June. Therefore the Labour candidate could be forgiven for taking a laid back approach to the election which following Jeremy Corbyn's spectacular general election campaign and outcome will surely be a walkover. Especially given that Labour managed to unseat former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg in Sheffield Hallam barely 2 weeks ago.

UK Local Elections 2017 - Labour Blood Bath, UKIP Death, Tory June 8th Landslide / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: Nadeem_Walayat

The local election results have confounded election logic which is that the party in government tends to do badly at mid-term local elections. Of course we are not living in normal times, we are living in the age of BrExit where most voters realise the fundamental fact that there is only one party that has any chance of ensuring a successful Brexit outcome, the Conservative party and so the voters are intent on putting the country first by delivering Labour a blood bath whilst to all intents and purpose literally KILLING UKIP off in Thursdays vote which saw many Labour and most UKIP voters mark their ballot papers with crosses and ticks against the Conservative candidate.

Election Result - Labour Wins South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

The mainstream press were once more caught out by an apparently surprise Labour win in the South Yorkshire PCC by-election, as the press had increasingly built themselves up into a fever pitch of expectations for an upset UKIP victory all in the wake of the single issue of the Rotherham child abuse scandal as illustrated earlier by the likes of Channel 4 news -

"A UKIP victory here would be especially embarrassing to Labour as Ed Milliband is a South Yorkshire MP. It would be a sign that Nigel Farage's party poses as much as threat to Labour as it does to the Conservatives and a sign too that in many parts of Northern England just as in Scotland that Labour can no longer depend on its working class base" - Michael Crick, C4News (28th Oct 14)

UKIP South Yorkshire PCC Election Win is Just Not Going to Happen / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: N_Walayat

The by-election for the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner in the wake of the resignation of Shaun Wright is to be held this Thursday, and which has started to galvanise the mainstream press into swallowing UKIP propaganda that they actually stand a chance of winning the by-election all on the basis of one message centred around the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal as illustrated by the poster vans that are doing the rounds in Rotherham area.

Sheffield, Rotherham Local Election Results 2014 - Labour Turkeys Vote for Christmas / ElectionOracle / UK Local Elections

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Many people across Britain rebelled against the three party dictatorship that clusters around the centre and panders to some 5% of voters of marginal constituencies as they take their 'heartlands' for granted and never more so than Labour career politicians of Sheffield and Rotherham that expect the voters of the Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire to mark their X zombie style at each election regardless of whatever imbecile that the Labour elite puts up as candidates.
